I was using an outdated version of your script which was causing some confusion.

Using the new script and the following changes you mentioned I was able to hide all progression gear.
Will this work as intended and still show 6 sockets regardless of ilvl as well as ilvl 83 t1 gear regardless of socket combination?
Spoiler

Also, what does the # actually do? At first I thought it just commented out the line but the toggle section you have suggests something else.

Awesome :)

6 sockets:
Yes, they will still be shown. Have a look at the "### Specials" section. It's the first section in the filter. Putting stuff there makes sure that it matches first should it occur.
If you make changes you're unsure about, just test it. Reload the filter, drop something that's supposed to be hidden and something (related) that's still supposed to be shown. If you don't get the result you expected, just revert back to the original file.

ilvl 83 T1 Gear:
Yes, by using the "Progression" phrase in your search and replace operation you only modify blocks that deal with normal and magic items below itemlevel 77.

Custimization area:
The lines you quoted are in fact just commented out. However those lines appear multiple times ("#Gear - Progression" for example appears 258 times in the current version of the filter). They are there so that you can see what can be toggled and to make the actual replacing easier as you can just mark and copy the line you wish to modify (without the "#" sign).

By then running search and replace (replace all) over the file, you modify the actual blocks that deal with drops. Since they don't have the "#" sign in front of the line, you are able to easily switch between "Show" and "Hide".

Try it, grab a line from the custimization area and search for it (without the "#" sign). You will find the actual block(s) that deal/s with the corresponding line. It has a nice sideeffect as well, as it shows the currently active settings. Meaning you can see what is shown/hidden without browsing through the whole file.

Additional info:
Having all those toggles enables players fine grained control over what is being shown (or hidden). Once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy to build a really really custimized filter to suit your needs without writing a single line of "code". With Filtration it's even easier as you don't need to replace lines in a text file, you simply click a switch and safe the file.

There are more toggles than what is shown in the custimization area. You can for example search for lines containing "~". Those are considered advanced toggles and are only shown in Filtration if you enable the "advanced mode". That's because they deal with blocks that most players (including myself) wouldn't want to change. But there are players that aren't interested in any rares below a certain itemevel or low level maps for example. And there are toggles for that.

You can even build your own theme files to change the appearance of almost every item. I'm kind of surprised that we haven't seen more theme files until now. As far as I know there's only one which is linked in the first post of this thread.

Hello, thank you for the awesome filter. I have a few suggestions though:
There are some currency items which usually (most of the time) value around 1:1 ratio to chaos in standard league. Chaos orb has brown border color accoding to the text color. The other orbs with such value (i think vaal or regal) don't have the border. Can you please add the border to them?

Another: Since i did not like the original filename i renamed the file to my needs. Now i can't tell which version the file is. Could you please add file version into the file at the very start? That would make updating a lot easier.

Now this has maybe been posted many times but i don't have time to read through 40 pages or so. If the filter gave some hints about which items are super rare (say 1exalted or more) it would be so much more useful. I believe that item filter has such power even when prices changes and are opinion based. Maybe there are some items with long-term value? Or there could be a dedicated section in the filter for theese items such that players could add unique bases themselves easily?

Simple example: The other day i received Drillneck, Penetrating Arrow Quiver and checked the price to find out it could be sold for 2 exalts easily (my first two exalts yay). Headhunter is certainly not something i randomly find anywhere but sure as hell i would not want to accidentally miss it. Brittle emperor divination cards have a high value (2ex each) and they could be marked as such.

The only reason why i don't do this myself if that i don't want to break the file syntax and save the trouble copypasting numerous sections after each filter update. If all above were concentrated into one section it would be much easier for simple me to copy it over to new versions.

Thanks for your great work.

The topic in question has come up numerous times in the past, leading to the currency section we have in place today. It features theme comments that allow you to change most appearance related lines to suit your own need or even create your own theme file through Filtration. Which in turn you can then apply to new versions of the filter.

If you create a theme file that suits the standard league currency ratios better than my personal defaults, make sure to let me know and I'll add it to the first post of this thread. I'm happy to help should you decide to create one.

It's part of the filename for exactly that reason. If you manually remove the version number by editing the filename, I think it's fair to ask that you add the version number to the content yourself. I can't really think of a reason to rename the filter.

Earlier versions of the filter had sections that dealt with uniques in the "couple ex" range. However this is so league dependent that it was hell to maintain. So I opted for (as you say) long-term high value uniques.

However it's quite easy to add more bases to that block or even add a new block. Search for "### Uniques" to get to the unique section. You can either add more BaseTypes to the "Very Very Valuable" block or copy that block, modify the appearance related lines if you want the new bases to look differently and replace the basetypes in the new block.

Some bases can't be distinguished from other uniques that share the same Basetype (like Headhunter), so for those you are out of luck unless you want to highlight Wurm's Molt every time as well. This reminds me to remove the Headhunter block in the next version as it does not work.

The same applies to Divination Cards (search for "### Divination Cards"). It already has two blocks (Very Very Valuable vs Very Valueable) that you can modify to suit your own needs. I haven't thought about the Divination Cards section further. Should their value start to vary a lot as well I might opt for the same route we took for uniques.

Some of the points you brought up can be solved by yourself easily (filter version, theme file for appearance).
When it comes to adding basetypes at a concentrated section I'm not sure. I think it would make it more complicated to find things. Right now stuff is neatly structured and easily reachable by searching for the section name.
Honestly, it should be quite easy to add a new block to two different sections should a new version arrive. The "release schedule" slowed down a lot (which is a good thing in my book) so that it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes every few weeks if not months.

Hey there. Love the filter. I am wondering how (why) these items show up. There are several others also. Can s/o familiar with the filter let me know which block is doing this (and more importantly..what am I missing by not picking these up). Thanks

Thank you for very detailed and thoughtful answer.
I thought that Filtration was just nice clicky tool for find & replace but if it has themes as you say i will surely look into it.
I will test the currencies i have and see if i find any improvements.

At last: If your filter highlights some uniques i am happy about that. (By the way my first exalted dropped yesterday and it was like impossible to miss even in the heap of battle, good job on that). About the uniques the best way to add them would be some automated solution which would add all valueable uniques at the time you run the app. I will research into that.

What's the zonelevel in that picture? Could be that those are simply the best available bases for the zone level. In that case, especially in new leagues, alching white items is a common thing to do. The higher the zone you are in, the less white/magic items will be displayed.

/edit: From what I can see, you wouldn't miss anything unless you need one of the bases for alching to improve your gear.

/edit2:

Okay, seems you are in Kaom's area in normal (~lvl 38).

Item by item:

Hook Sword, Droplevel 34
Ornate Spiked Shield, Droplevel 33
Bronze Plate, Droplevel 37
Arena Plate, Droplevel 32
Bone Armour, Droplevel 35
Grinning Fetish, Droplevel 35

Those seem fine to be shown rule wise. The blocks that would hide items around this itemlevel are the following two:
Spoiler

Hide
Rarity <= Magic
DropLevel <= 30
ItemLevel >= 35
SetBackgroundColor 0 0 0 190 #Hide
SetFontSize 26

Hide
Rarity <= Magic
DropLevel <= 35
ItemLevel >= 40
SetBackgroundColor 0 0 0 190 #Hide
SetFontSize 26

But the items in your screenshot don't match the rules (meaning we want them to show).
Certain rings/belts are hidden at some point, but not yet, so they are shown as well.
We also see that the 1hand weapons are fully socketed and the armour pieces have atleast 4 sockets. Which meets conditions that are checked later in the filter.

Seems like everything is all right.

If you level in standard or another league where you have plenty of leveling gear and want to get rid of these white/magic items, open the file in a text editor that supports "Replace All" (I recommend Notepad++) and replace "Show #Gear - Progression" by "Hide #Gear - Progression". There needs to be a tab between "Show/Hide" and "Progression". It's just that the forum replaces them with a space.

That's really awesome, going through the file gives an appreciation of the meticulous detail you put into it to account for various cases especially for white/magi ilvl gear. Thank you so much for your patience and help. I don't even know how I was able to play poe a year ago when loot filters did not exist yet.
