Steam and Item Filter

So what you guys are doing is probably just re naming the file name and not actually changing the file type. I noticed that is what I did the first time I tried it and fixed it.

Here are the steps you will want to do.

Open up your control panel
Appearance and Personalization
Folder Options
View Tab
Uncheck the box that says "hide extensions for known file types"

Go back to My Documents/MyGames/PathofExile or wherever you have your POE folder (this is the same place even if you have steam. Do not load this txt file into the default steam folder.)

You should now be able to rename it and rename the suffix

When you rename it whatever.filter it will prompt you that it may now not work. Click accept and it should work.

THIS was money. I spent an hour trying to get this shit to work.

Thanks a bunch man!

I think you have wrong folder.
I'm not running through steam but anyway, it's saying.
"My Documents/My Games /Path of Exile" folder.

try this

Okay, as Lethanis said here, there are 2 folders as you play via steam so you have to go through the steam folder or else you'll never be able to use your filter (the game opens the wrong folder when you click on "show folder" in UI options). I had the same issue and found this answer after about 20 minutes searching on several internet websites.
Hope this will help you if you do have the same issue.

Ps: Sorry if I've made some mistakes, English is not my mother language and I'm still learning it.
