Antnee's Classy Item Filter for Distinguished Exiles - 3.0

Updated.

Merged both versions of the script, adjusted some brightness levels to be more consistent. There is a comment in the script indicating where you can trim the scalable leveling filter off, if you desire.

I made some changes in how the leveling script scrutinizes items. I believe the experience is a bit more steady, and upgrade-worthy gear is more likely to be shown. For example:

If you're in a level 45 zone, you will only see white/blue items if they are at least worthy of a level 40 character. However, "lesser" gear (item level ~30) will also display if it is a 4-link. It still hides a lot of junk, and feels really good to use.

This behavior changes around level 60, where the level threshold of the gear tightens up dramatically. At that point in the game, you really don't care about anything that isn't a direct upgrade, 4-link or not.

When you enter maps (or a zone with the sameish level), only the very best white/blue items will be shown. Rares, uniques, and all the good stuff is shown at all times, of course.

My opinion: add a border for chromatics, 5-links, and jewels.

edit: ok 5-links had a black border but it was so unnoticeable I couldn't tell it was there.

Id suggest adding a sound to the drops of 6s items. Currency already has its own drop sound so you can choose if you want to go for an alch or transmute based on drop sound but often if you clear very fast or with some dot you can't hear the drops of 6s items behind you.

If that's what you want to do, go for it. However, I suggest playing with it as-is first. Chromatic items are brighter than normal items (which have also had their text darkened a tiny bit), which you rarely ever see in the first place. They stick out like a sore thumb.

Any item with 5 or more sockets also sticks out nicely, just due to how many socket dots there are. Again, hiding all the junk makes bordering unnecessary.

Regarding black borders: this is actually really important. Black borders with slight background highlights stand out equally well in light AND dark environments.

Edit: not trying to be combative. I spent many hours carrying an inventory of loot to toss on the ground in various environments, carefully tweaking the color balance so that things stand out everywhere (as opposed to just what you see on the preview tool)

That's not a bad idea. But, unless the Alert sounds change, I actually don't see their usefulness, at all. You can barely hear them over the sound of combat.

Edit: added some sounds. Feel free to change them to your liking.

In game, the dark borders don't stand out for me at all. Maybe your monitor has better color saturation than mine, or you sit closer to the screen than me. All of the black/dark-green borders are basically invisible to me since they have so little contrast.

Some other tweaks: show white jewelry both >= 60 and >= 75, hide non-quality flasks at map level (way way too many showing up).

The point isn't to see the border, the point is that without the black border, the background bleeds into the ground (in bright areas). Try it yourself.

The jewelry is a personal preference, feel free to add a block if you want to see them, right above the "chance bases" block:

"
Show
Class Ring Amulet Belt
ItemLevel >= 60
Rarity Normal
SetTextColor 180 180 180

RE: the flasks, I am only seeing the eternal/divine/hallowed hybrid flasks in maps. Is this not the case on your end?

Edit: added a 10% qualifier. This should cut back on the amount of flasks.

Added a new feature- Hidden Item Dimming. This will darken all items that are hidden, so that when you mouse over their 3d model, the item's text remains dark and not distracting. This is really just a workaround, as keypickup/item hiding isn't quite ironed out in the beta quite yet.

we love you antnee
I dont see any any key!
Daw!

Substantial update. After playing a fresh character, the leveling script has been rebalanced. Items dropped before beating Brutus are far less likely to be hidden, if at all. Items of interest are in bright white (or bright blue). Feedback on this aspect (how much is shown/hidden/highlighted BEFORE beating Brutus) would be most welcome.

Some color balancing. Brightened the background color of 5 links marginally, and brightened backgrounds/borders for 6 link items. Some items were incorrectly using the bright white font reserved for normal rarity RGB items. Other minor procedural tweaks.
