Path of Exile too easy?

Some of us feel that Path of Exile is becoming too easy, which is bad for such a hardcore game, intended for a hardcore audience. The players that dedicate themselves to PoE don't want it easy and simple, otherwise they would play Diablo 3. They want it hard and complex.

Now, 2.0.0 will introduce several features that will possibly make your characters stronger:

- Jewels: in the worst case they don't change anything for your build, but in many cases you can probably puzzle together a better tree when jewels are added, due to the sheer amount of added choice (which in itself is a good thing).

- Many new uniques, warcries and golems: none of them necessary to implement in your current build, but there is a lot of potential of boosting many builds. My dual totemer could really use a golem and all my melee characters will obviously be stronger when the fortify buff is obtainable.

- Maraketh weapons: seem to be slightly stronger then other weapons for certain builds.

- ... ?

Let me be clear: all these new additions are AWESOME!
But by offering us so many options to get stronger, won't the game become too easy, if it isn't already so now?

And do we want easy? If so, why are we still playing PoE instead of D3?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that GGG has probably taken this general feedback on board, and we will likely see some pretty challenging content coming.

Remember though, you're battling against thousands of people who almost dedicate their lives solely to breaking shit by making awesomely strong and easy to copy builds that allow content to be trivialised. This will happen again.

Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years.

Best of luck in the future!
Stop playing path of shopping channel and wear white items only.

I play PoE for it's complexity, not for it's difficulty.

imho ggg missed a chance, jewels should have been account bound to prevent an easy copying of builds long term.

PoE is decently hard, it's the fact that it's easier to get a dream piece upgrade from trading than playing the game and obtain it yourself...

You can consider trying pure self found and not use any gear from your stash and no trading, it should be more challenging that way.
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.
I personally feel over the last couple of years the game has gotten harder.

Generally the game's balance has not changed much. But there have been many nerfs to defensive mechanics over these last couple of years and only one buff that i can think of - evasion and 1 additional defense MoM. Here are the nerfs:

*There was once a node that gave 5% to all max res on the tree. Lucky to get 1% to a single one now

*Purity of elements used to give 5% to max resistances also for 1 gem and just a 40% mana reservation. Now 3 seperate gems for each element, all of which are 40% and only give 4% max res

*Endurance charges changed from 5% (i think) phys dmg reduction down to 4% per charge

*Arctic Armour nerfed by 2 levels

*Defence auras grace and determination nerfed to cost more reservation

*Defense armour's nerfed - mainly - lightning coil, CoD.

and more.

I mean im not saying the game is overly hard (i generally feel it to be about right myself in general play). I just think the main reason i survive more now is that the game has gotten harder as I have gotten more experienced. The above evidence suggests the game was a walk in the park at many stages of its life. I mean come on - everyone was walking around with at least 85% res back in the day!

I agree that path of exile is too easy at the moment but I would never play diablo 3 instead of path of exile. It is not even the same type of game. The only reason diablo 3 is called ARPG is because it is a sequel in name only to diablo 2.

There isn't really an alternative to path of exile. Grim dawn is the closest option, i guess, but it is not as good and I think, personally, I would continue to take the reduced challenge of Path of exile just because it is such a good game.

However, there is so much to do in this game that what can be a simple task for one build might be a challenge for another. Never trade for item upgrades. Play PvP, races, set your own rules etc.

In short, the game offers so much that you can always find something that challenges you.

But having a system where stuff drops diminishes from a trading game. Drop rates are well balanced to create a good strong economy in PoE and i prefer this to a "more loot than hot dinners" approach of said other games or "4 dragon slayers in the entire game over the past 3 years" of said other games ...
