More QQ? Really? You rather have them push more updates with more bugs then? OK.

Remember the good old days when we could simply enjoy a game without thinking its ratings on some streaming site even vaguely mattered?

The dearth of intellect in the vocal twitch viewing community is infamous, and yet we're supposed to worry what they're watching, what they think?

Most games are basically more watchable than PoE anyway.

Last I checked, good games were made to be played and enjoyed, not watched and enjoyed. The twitch culture by its very nature is secondary, virtually parasitic. If you're streaming, you're an exhibitionist; if you're watching a stream, you're a voyeur.

And neither is playing the game in and of itself.

Not a problem if the game is made to be watched, but I'm fairly sure there aren't many times when the devs go, "but wait, are website we should make this change? It might look bad on twitch and affect our ratings!"

...at least I hope that never happens, for the game's sake.

My least favorite thing about this current gaming generation is the over importance that people seem to place on twitch. One of my favorite games, Crusader Kings 2, has 5 viewers on twitch right now. That doesn't stop it from being one of the best games ever made. Twitch viewers couldn't possibly mean less and yet people cling to it as some kind of metric of what a 'good' game is.

Scary.

I could be biased though because I don't even watch video game streams unless TheClaude is speedrunning Final Fantasy Tactics.

I don't know if we're playing the same PoE, but chat for me seems pretty alive. Not overwhelmingly flooded with messages (which makes it somehow watchable) but still, as far from being dead as possible.

I find fun in playing the game as it is. I might even come back for longer when the new act arrives (supposed to come in few days, so I myself am taking a break), since now I've created a character like 2 days ago and I was told that league's ending in a few days. Fuuuuuuuuu.

Bit sad I had to learn it from the chat though, since there's no official news about it, and it's basically adding 25% more game to what's already existing, so it's not like they're changing colours of two pixels in some shithole in an underground cave that nobody bothers to ever think to look at. Hype doesn't kill games, it's the disappointment that follows it. Requirements and expectations that players weave, oftentimes unreasonably huge.
Who dares - wins.
