Worst computer to run PoE on?
|
I'm wondering, does anyone play PoE on worse computer than mine, Lenovo 3000 N200:
2GB RAM ddr2 Pentium Dual Core 1,46GHz NVidia GeForce Go 7300, 256MB I had to lower all graphic settings to minimum and I'm still having huge "lag" spikes. - I can't really play single target builds, because I'm having big problems with clicking on monsters. - I can't play summoner, too many things on screen. - I can't too spectacular build, like double totem fireworks. - I can't group with mentioned builds. I play Ice Witch, I don't really have to target and I can react to slowed monsters. I'm in act 3 atm and this is getting really hard. I BARELY managed to defeat Vaal. You can imagine fighting with Vaal on 0 life nodes hero (I'm going for CI), when you can't dodge any attacks, because they're too shiny. I died and teleported back about 25 times, but eventually he died. Then in act 3 I met some elecrtic witch, who was summoning big lightning ball, which was lagged the crap out of my laptop and if I didn't dodge it, I died. Eventually I bought 2x lightning resist ring, lightning resist potion and after few deaths - defeated her. I'm wondering, will I be able to at least finish III act default, because there are more and more shiny monsters. Normally, I would give up after few hours, but this game is too awesome. 7 year old hp laptop give or take a few years.
-Integrated Express Intel family chipset 4 series graphics card. -Pentium dual core CPU 2.1GHZ but running at .80 - core temp of my computer stays at roughly 185 for at least past 2 years That being said I run this game all at lowest settings and get roughly max 40 fps with bad spikes around 5 when there's a full party spamming spells. There is a ton you can do to your computer to keep it running smoothly. My laptop was outdated when I bought it and is NOT recommended for gaming. Make sure you update your drivers. Download Razer's game booster. Use full screen but make sure its the lowest res/800x600 or something like that. Go to your task manager, right click path of exile and go to processes. Set priority to high. These tips should at least increase your fps a little. I feel your pain as I've been gaming for years on this rig. |

" Ha, I have about the same exact thing. Except it is an Acer with a mobile Dual Core CPU (8 hour battery life laptop) Game booster definitely helped. I wish the integrated 4 series on Acer had the updated intel control panel drivers, so I could change 3D graphics to "performance"... Would probably help a ton. I spent my fight on Vaal dropping portals and spamming a ranged attack until he finally died after about 8 deaths... |

I have the Royal BNA driver. It helps a ton I suggest you google it and get the latest version if you have the right card for it.

When I play, it's on an:
AMD Athlon 64 2.0Ghz single core (overclocked to 2.4Ghz lolforthewin) 2Gb DDR1 RAM. Nvidia GeForce 210. Fuck yeah. You'd be hard pressed to find a lower end main computer running (and playing the game), unless you deliberately installed it on an unused Pentium II or something. |

" It looks nice, but how much does it help? Does it have a better settings menu, or what? Installing a new graphics driver, much less one made by some random person, is dangerous for me. My computer no longer has a power button, and the screen is off the VGA output (Due to a broken laptop screen). So.. if I mess up the drivers and the VGA output no longer works, or my computer freezes and can't be Cntrl-Alt-Del restarted, I would be SOL. |

" I can't promise you it will work for you perfectly and I understand that situation. Some installs go smoothly while some don't. If I were in your situation I would only download it if I absolutely had to and no other fixes have helped you. In other words if the game for you is completely unplayable then I would go for it. I haven't messed with the settings much but for me the driver does help a ton. It increased my fps on League by 20. You will have to uninstall your old driver so that may pose a big risk/problem for your performance of even booting up the laptop and being able to navigate settings. I like to try and go by the golden rule with computers, if it ain't broke don't fix it. |

" This actually helped, thanks a lot. Act 3 with all its shiny mobs was almost unplayable for me, but now I can progress again. |
