New patch not working properly, can't log in

As of this patch a couple of hours ago I can no longer in yet it was working perfectly beforehand. It keeps saying that I need to downloasd the patch and restart but I have downloaded the patch about five times, each time getting the following error:

Message bubble - "There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile"

I log in via Steam. I tried validating my local files and it came up fine.

How do I get the patch to register as working so that I can log in? Please let me know, thanks!

Also having the exact same problem Steam says patch 1.3.1c is downloaded but game says its not. Still shows version as 1.3.1b.

Update: Read that changing the steam server from one city to another city would solve the problem.....I did and it did solve the problem.

Solved it. You have to let the Steam updater do the following:

a. Do not use start automatically when patch is done.
b. Let the patch finish... then wait.
c. A secondary patch will happen that will take much longer.

When THAT is done start your game.

This is weird and a problem but I think it will help you.

How long until the second patch started for you? I am going on 15 minutes with nothing showing up.
Having the same issues... Hopefully I can get this solved before the next race... Going to try the waiting thing now, but I don't like the sounds of it >.>.

Navigate to your game's installation folder (likely: C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games)

Right-click on Path of Exile.exe
Left-click Properties
Left-click the Digital Signatures tab

What is the value for Timestamp?

EDIT: This applies to anyone experiencing the same issue.

Same issue with update not working. Restarted update several times, no luck. The error msg keeps rearing its ugly head. Update needs to be installed, or something similar.

I am using Steam currently to play PoE.
As for my timestamp for C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\PathofExile.exe is ‎Tuesday, ‎February ‎24, ‎2015 3:52:40 PM.

I did just now notice that I was given the option to 'Install Certificate' for Grinding Gear Games under PathOfExile.exe files 'properties'--> Digital Signatures tab. I will Install and see if that helps any.

Update: after doing the certificate thing I noticed that PoE updater is STILL working, apparently I didn't close the updater window thingy out after the download progress bar appeared complete the last time. Then I looked at the D/L rate, ugh 239kb/sec --> 16 hours till complete. I canceled the update and will finish it when I go to bed tonight. Will post any new info tomorrow.

Alright that seems correct.

Have you tried launching the game normally via PathofExile.exe rather than through Steam?

Yeah my timestamp was up to date... I saw in another thread where ggg responded and they said it was just steam being slow to give out the updates for some reason..

So I just continued trying the update and eventually it started the 'secondary' update everyone was talking about. Seems like the best solution is to just wait and keep trying. Don't bother reinstalling or anything crazy >.>
I have the same problem and i use not Steam.
Impossible to play.
Game version 1.3.1d
