No ele damage from that claw is going to hurt a lot of builds.

Couple that with the fact that there are no aoe abilities that use both weps for claws in game currently.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

what is lightning strike and cyclone and whirling blades hur.
'Can't dispute how nice they'll be in your alternate weapon set or as an offhand weapon swap as a claw user so you don't need to grab Vaal Pact. Just switch when you see a damage reflection mob and you've saved your build a significant amount of passive skill points.
same name in-game
Whelp, we know what devmoon will be wanting to use his chance orbs on now.
Note that with a life leech gem, you can leech back any elemental damage that you do with the claw instantly as well.

Yup, let's all do about 1/2 the damage of a good weapon to leech life instantly. I don't need to leech instantly if my enemies are dead.

This weapon would be great if it was a lower level item. At 62, it is just plain bad.

And you would die on reflect. I could oneshot myself on reflect with dual strike. I didn't use whirling blades because of this, when i crit with it...gg.

With 40% instant leech, this would have been impossible.

Also, not everyone is going for "lol OMG how much dmg can i deal". I'll tell you guys this, A HIGH DMG BUILD IS EASY TO DO. They are no brainers. coming up with something that isn't your typical "lol zomgs high dps aoe" and actually works is another story. If you are looking at these claws from a "i can get higher", then why even waste time looking at uniques cause save for a few (kaoms, shavronne's, etc) you can always get better rares.

If you actually one-shot yourself, instant life leech wouldn't fix that. You'd still take your entire hp globe in damage and be dead before life leech could apply. This isn't mtg.

Secondly - No matter what your build is, you want to maximize the damage it deals. No one wants to create a character that's painful to clear with. Furthermore, no one would want to group with a character that can't deal damage. Why would I want you in my run if you will give my enemies 50% more health and you don't do damage?

This is an interesting item, but at level 62 it's horrible unless the damage scales better.

Dual claw + Kaom + new helm + Carnage heart + decent hp+ and hp% and the possiblity of dying is 0 on a cyclone tank.

Reach 50% lifesteal with 2 perfect claw + perfect necklace + claw passive + warlord mark and ww with your 8k+ hp 9k+ armor and 1k life on hit literaly, apply endurance charge and you could even tank vaal hit and refill in a mere second if not more.

This effect also negate the biggest problem of vaal pact,no life potion + no regen, the damage is low because the tradeoff is extremely big.

This claw is a solo build/tank maker that for sure.

the claw is amazing already, but we don't know the roll ranges of the IPD and flat physical.

it can be considerable better possibly.

Actually, instant leech would save you. Once you have a high leech, the reflect aura would have to be more than your leech for you to even feel it. If you deal 10k, and the reflect aura is 40%, and you leech back 40%, your life won't flinch. You'll deal 10k, leech back 4k, and take 4k as well. In other words, 0 dmg.

The reflect aura would have to be substantially more than the leech % when it's instant. That's why instant leech is very strong. If you're physical based, and your physical leech is high enough, it's almost impossible to kill yourself on physical reflect, because as long as you aren't running around with 2k hp and 24k dmg (glass cannon), you won't have trouble with reflect at all.

Vaal pact would be broken and mandatory for any leech build, only thing stopping it from being godlike is that you can't use life flask. This is practically vaal pact, but with no kicker.
As a claw user, I'm REALLY pissed with the new claw, it's not an improvement over around 99% of decent end game claws apart from the Vaal Pact, but if you're a claw user, you probably already have it or plan on taking it. Well at least it's somewhat decent life leech, but seeing as rangers have such items as Lioneye's Glare, and this was supposed to be our "Lioneye's Glare", I kinda feel sad.
