How Frequent are Currency Sales?
" Right, but that just tells me that the item I'm after was discounted from $17.50 to $12 at some point in the distant past. One item per day, no way to know what's coming up next. I appreciate the knowledge, but it's ultimately irrelevant. Maybe there's a way to purchase POE gift cards from third parties at a discount that I'm missing out on? I mean there has to be some way to do this less expensively, right? I know a lot of people invested a lot of cash in this community and I'm not trying to be insulting, but it's really hard for me to look at a minimum $20 purchase for a single in-game vanity item, then compare the value there to, say, purchasing a brand new copy of Skyrim for the same cost. If sales are just never a thing, how do people justify spending so much for so little? |

When the karma coin first became available, you could buy them at adiscounted rate. Not sure that is still the case.

" Sales happen every day. That the item you want is not on sale right now does not mean sales are just never a thing. I have no problem justifying the current situation. Factor in the fact that I spent $0.00 to download the game. Factor in the fact that I have received multiple expansions for $0.00 Factor in the fact that the game is updated on a regular basis for $0.00 Factor in the fact that I really enjoy playing the game, over a year after I started playing. And it is easily justified. | |
" So little? POE is currently the BEST game for me by a long shot. And I am generally confident the direction of game is aligned with what I find enjoyable in ARPG. It will convert your forum titles into decorative square badges that use the space next to your forum posts more economically so that you can show off an unlimited number of them at any one time. - GGG, 2018 (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3573673)

Well laugh if you like, but it's not an unreasonable expectation that there may be some way to get more for less. Around the launch of Planetside 2 I got 50% off Sony Online cards via a sale at Wal-Mart and redeemed them for double their value due to a Sony promotion, ended up getting $400 worth of currency for $100.
Lest you think I'm basing my expectations on a single unreasonable instance, I've done similar things with other games as well. Warframe's Steam starter packs often go on sale when Steam has seasonal sales, and I've gotten better-than-advertized deals for Tera, MegaTen Online, and Dragon's Nest currency by asking around and finding out about these sorts of deals. |

Points have been discounted once in Path of Exile history. I wouldn't wait for them to go on sale, but it's a good idea to purchase microtransactions during a daily deal sale. Also, if you purchase points in a supporter pack, you're actually getting them at a discounted price, especially in the higher tier ones.

" People keep saying this... but the options I see are all the same. The cheapest packs are actually worse. The basic $5/50, $10/100, and $20/200 packs are all 10 cents per point. The packs are $50/400, $100/900, $200/2000 and $500/5000. For currency, the first two are actually worse than just buying points individually. Maybe the supporter packs are a better deal if you're paying in Euros/Pounds/Rubles? |

" The supporter packs are a better deal because you get microtransactions and other perks with them. For the $50 pack you get a a full armour set (usually these are like $40 in the microtransaction store) and you get the soundtrack, forum title, hideout decorations etc - The $500 is outrageous in value. You get your straight worth in points and then you get all the lower tier supporter packs armours plus the highest tier one, grandmaster submission, etc etc. There's heaps. The perks are basically free in the grandmaster packs. |
