Question about Party XP with a Level 100
" ... You're so wrong it hurts. Test case: Go to the Coast in Normal. Take your level two character, and kill some things. Have a level 100 character join you and follow you around, while you kill some more things. Compare the exp (do you get the same exp, or basically no exp?) This is the obvious way to test this hypothesis, and also your desire to overly convolute it makes me want to smack you with a wrench. It's optimal to do it with such a low-level character because the difference in exp will be _visually obvious_. No need to record every single tiny little number, and no need to compare it with how much a level 99 character drains (which we already know is "a lot"). For the record, I believe your friend or whoever told you this information is dead wrong. If they were right, then that would mean that all level 100 characters could charge for exp-full rushes in PoE. Which seems like exactly what GGG was trying to avoid with the harsh EXP sharing calculation.
Even if they were right, and you tell us about the information, I will file it as a bug report unless someone from GGG posts here saying it's not a bug, because I strongly believe it is not how GGG intended the game to work. |

" Thats what were thinking. We should be charging for people to run with us! :D This gives a huge perk to the almost perk-less achievement of hitting 100. This is not a bug. It makes perfect sense. With no Level 100's, The highest level character in the group of 6 takes most of the XP. But with a Level 100 in the group, The group should get the 6 person XP/ but be split among 5 party members since a level 100 requires 0 xp to next level. So the level 100 shouldn't be taking ANY xp because there is no play for the XP to go. Hikaru, please get off your high horse, you don't know what GGG intended or not. They don't even know what they intended. They made a game without perm allocation!! They nerfed Acuity's after the fact because they realized they didn't test it enough before release. They are not Always getting things right.. so can we please figure out the truth here. And Hikaru, Since part of the XP share equation is the level differnece between the characters, using a level 2 in a party with a level 100 i think would not give you an accurate result. which is why we need to test it with people <10 levels below the level 100. You can test this just as hikaru suggested if what you theorize is true, although I already think it wont work (but it would be educational to be proved otherwise). Experience share calculation is common among all levels, there's just a steeper experience share for higher level gaps though. Its easier to detect using low level chars instead of having to check the numbers in your experience for higher level ones.

" They know their own design philosophy, they just don't know how to balance things. Their own design philosophy includes no rushes from 1 to 80. You can talk to any of them to figure this out. This is not a high horse, and if this is true about level 100s, I am filing that bug. " You are wrong. I can't comprehend how you don't realize how objectively wrong this is. romerolorenz is correct. The way the sharing calculation works, a level 2 character will get a _horrendous_ penalty from sharing with a level 100 character, unless a level 100 character does not leech exp from other characters. Thus, by checking it with a level 100 and a low-level character (with those two being the only ones in the party), you will very easily be able to make the visual distinction about whether exp sharing is going on. Perhaps your source of confusion is whether the experience penalty or experience share comes first. The answer is that sharing comes first. Thus, if a level 2 person parties with a level 100 person, the result should be that the level 2 person receives 12^2.71 / (12^2.71 + 110^2.71) ~= 0.25% of the normal experience they would receive. Against monsters that give as much as 400 exp each, the character would now receive 1 exp per kill. See? Can you please quit the game, now that you realize how stupid you are?
