Question about Party XP with a Level 100

I always thought otherwise, BUT a knowlegable player mentioned to me that partying with a level 100 gets the party MORE xp because the level 100 doesn't take ANY.

A level 99, he said, would take the most xp from the group, but once u hit level 100, you no longer take any xp.

Anyone have concrete evidence or can GGG chime in?

Does a level 100 Character take ANY experience away from the rest of the party an end game map

found the relevant section of the wiki:

the wiki shows that the party xp share of a lvl 100 is marginally
higher than the party xp of a lvl 99.

there is a marginal share increase for each level a player
is above the rest of the group, though under all circumstances
the highest level player (including 100) will take a larger
share of total xp.

so there's that.

now clearly you are interested in maximizing your own
share of xp in a party.

try to be in a party where you are not far away in lvl
from the highest levels,

ex: if your lvl 66, mapping in a 66... try not to map
with any lvl 80's, they will clear super fast but take a big cut
of the total xp...

ideally in a perfect world, you will team up with 5 other
level 66 players who are all STRONG AS HELL, wearing 6l's
with 20 Quality gems... killing up a storm.

that way you would get equal shares for every kill.

you want a strong party near your level, not a super strong
party thats 10 levels higher than you.

i am aware of the wiki page. And i am aware of the penalty for being in a party with someone too high of a level with you.

Im talking about me, level 100, playing with 3 friends lvl 96-98. I was always told by others that they don't want to group we me because i will steal all the xp. But since one of my friends brought up that since level 100's CAN'T gain any xp, that they DON't get/or take any of the xp share away

Honestly this is probably something you're going to have to test yourselves in a party...

1) Pick the enemy you want to test on (e.g. white lvl 77 voidbearer)
2) Have someone kill the enemy in question when you are not in the map/party, measure the XP
3) Open up another map, repeat the test but with you in the party; compare the #s.

That's where I'd start anyways.

yea agreed.. i'll have to find solme time to do that. Let you know, or pm me if u want to help test it our and/or are mathematically gifted in the art of theorycrafting.

GGG can you maybe chime in? so we have some definite answers for player reference.

please ggg :( I don't have the time to invite a friend who is level 99 and compare the xp he got with me compared to leveling with another lvl 99...

If the answer to this question is yes, then this is another GREAT PERK of hitting 100.

Not only can you play more loose and fun because of no death penalty, AND the ability to powerlevel your friends without the xp gain penalty.

It wouldn't be very accurate..

We need a level 99 Char because they apparently take the most xp away from the group.
Then a level 92-98, this is the char that is going to be testing the xp.

So first the level 92-98 and lvl 100 will do a couple packs, record the XP.
And then the 92-98 will do a couple of the same packs with the level 99. Then you can see if the level 100 takes more xp away, or less xp away.
