Plot holes in POE

Good thing there's no cars or motorcycles in Wraeclast.

What a poor mind.

Plot holes. These are the subjects that I enjoy the most when talking about videogames. I consider the plot as much as important as the gameplay itsel, since this is what makes modern games rich and explorable, if we're talking about depth and lore, or even Role-Playing Games.

I never noticed about this one before, though. Maybe there is a hidden truth about Oak, but there's actually not a direct clarification in the narrative that support that, in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure the reason we go through the ruins is to find something that Piety wanted there, before she could get to it. We just end up releasing the darkness by accident.. and then have to destroy it. It's just by chance that we find another exit into the Wetlands - which clearly has more than one path into it, by going up river.

And if you look around the wetlands, you can find canoe-like objects, I'm pretty sure, near the southern rivers.

What concerns me more than Oak and the Ruins is the fact the Vaal Pyramid clearly has JUST jutted up into the ruins of Sarn... and no one in the encampment talks about the earthquake that clearly just happened or the tip of a giant pyramid suddenly jutting from the ground.

(Seriously, if you have audio on and pay attention to the graphics, they shake visibly as a rumbling is heard as you leave the pyramid. That, and there's dust clearing all around it, and the rubble is fresh.)

Has anyone ever found plot holes? For example how can Oak harass the camp if hes behind the big ball we have to push over and the tree roots to get to him? Anyone else got something similar?

Oak has henchmen throughout the forest. Obviously they're doing the dirty work for him.
Never wrestle with a pig. You'll only get muddy, and the pig likes it!

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience!

BTW, the same tree root and darkness ball thing is preventing piety from going to act 3 or does she put the roots there and the ball after she passes through? GGG got some explainin' to do regarding that part of the game.^^

Then again we see Piety over in the Chamber of Sins too... how did she get past the Encampment from the Prison??

Well my presumption is she has more resources to move around Wraeclast. She had access to a boat across Lake Constance and that boat also provided her access up the Chitis River to Sarn.

As for Oak... isn't the theory that he Leap Slammed his way over the mountains that hide the Vaal Ruins? :)

exiles today are lazy as fuck. just go touch the magic 8 ball of truth. who cares about setting a giant robot darkness free.

during the olden days, exiles went around the pyramid so they would not touch the ball of god. Oak clearly paid attention to his ancestors.

I'm pretty sure the whole reason we go through the vaal temple to get to pools and streams is because oak's bros have blocked off the more convenient ways of getting there. Pretty sure eramir or someone explains that in a quest dialogue.
It just has you go into the ruins to get whats in there before Piety can. Its pure game convenience that Oak is in the area right after it. There must be other ways to get there that we just don't see. Just like how Tarkleigh talks about visiting inland by going around the prison, but the game forces us to go through it instead of around it like he did.

If you've seen Oak's leap, you know that ball is no obstacle for him. His name, isn't his birth name and might be a hint that his portion of the amulet and his bent towards nature, might give him command over the plants and trees. The roots may very well part at his wish.

O what is Death but parting breath?
On many a bloody plain
I've dar'd his face, and in this place
I'll scorn him yet again.

Not sure if Oak's a McPherson or not, but a mix of nobility and gypsy seem to fit his style.

So, now that we got the Oak thingy out of the way, anyone got any more plot hole moments? There gotta be some!
That's just stupid, Oak is smart and I doubt he will risk his men's life by going trough so much pain in the ass.

Like others said, he could easily take a boat.

Or he knows other ways to get there, but the villagers kept you doing their shit until you screw up and release the spirit from that ball thingie.

Once you've done that, you need to get rid of it, so it might seem there is no other way than the one is presented in the game.
