The best way to 5L an item is just blow some fuses on it. GGG made 5L stupid fuckin easy these days. I dont even pick up 5L items as they drop too bloody often now.

Are you aiming for 5L? Good, 6S the thing and go for it.
Are you aiming for 6L? Use Vorici.

By far the best way is to buy a 5L (or 6L), but if you are going to fuse yourself, here's some conditional statements:

* If you are planing to 5L several items in a league, then always link yourself, never use Vorici. If you are linking just 1 item, then consider Vorici.

* If you don't plan to use Vorici, then always 6-socket your item, else 5 socket is enough.

* If it is a white item, then always use 4 scraps for 20% quality on it, before each fuse. If it's a non-white item, then use as much scraps as you can afford (say 5% quality before each fuse).

Never used vorici, but I would do it if I picked up something i really wanted or needed to 6L (like a shavs). Otherwise I just manually 6s and do fuses until i hit a 5L (or 6L). Buying a 5L or 6L is also a good option.. if you do the math, it's often the best option actually.

You have to keep in mind that Vorici's prices are set at a high estimate, for a guarantee. You can use 150 fusings all at once for the guarantee, but odds are you hit the 5L well before using all 150. Of course RNGesus can always smite thee, and you won't get it in the 150, but odds are still in your favor. That same applies to 6L. 1500 is a guarantee, but generally odds are in your favor to 6L before you use 1500 manually. You hear stories from both sides. 2000+ fusings used and still no 6-link, and people of 6L within the first 20 used.

Ultimately, you have to decide whether you're the gambling type or not.

I'm a bit of a noob but here is what I do:

Most of my builds use a Unique Chest so...

I buy two versions of the chest with similar stats (no links or sockets requirements...just stats).

I use fusings/chromas to get one of them to a usable 4 link - 2 link set up (usually not that hard)

Meanwhile I save fusings for the SECOND one (in stash).

I use Vorichi to 5L the second one (not currently using)...and then chroma it and start using it.

Then I throw my original chest (4L-2L) back into the stash an burn fusings on it and hope to get lucky with 6L.

Note: This obviously doesn't work with expensive unique chests or rares chests where every affix is different. I'm currently doing this with with my Lightning Coil

The benefit of this method is that you gain the power of 5L eventually...but still are strong with a 4L AND you never really screw up your build.

Since 99% of the content of this game can be done with a 5L...I kinda see a 6L as a bit of a luxury.

I was going for a 5L on my vaal regalia on torment and these are the results so far:

160 fuses - 1st 5L
161st fuse - break 5L by missclick
278th fuse - nothing

But eh, il be happy if i get it under 400th fuse.
There is a possibility of it going 6L so im not that mad, not as much as i was when i broke the 5L by that missclick anyway.

Use your fusings yourself. It's not reliable, but on average it pays off because there's that slim chance you end up with a nice 6 link.

I've already 6s5l'd two things and 6S'd another (currently working on 5L), all of it under 250 fusings and under 260 jeweler's.

If I am not a rich player, and my next build upgrades are 4-8ex each (Drillneck, Empower...), would u advice to try 5L(with chance of 6L) my bow manualy with lets say up to 100 fuse ? if it dont happen, i can revert it to 4L with just 5fuse and doing fine with 4L, but i dont see spending 150 fuse for just a 5L without Drillneck/Empower worthwhile.... So roll or leave it as it is and wait for Drillneck and/or Empower ?

well, took me 78 fusing to 5L it, no regrets :)

Failed 290 manual jews
Then 350 jews on bench to 6s

710-720ish fuse ~ to 6l ( was spamming my mouse like ANGRY FVKING BADGER D:<)
