constantly stunned with eldritch battery
so i went eldritch battery on my lightning tendrils scion
at some point, around merciless, i started getting stunned A LOT, died many times being stunlocked by a group of enemies, being unable to run. my hp is not super high, around 2500, but i thought it should be enough to take care of most stuns i have 0 energy shield thanks to eldritch so no ES stun reduction bonus for me, and im not close enough to unwavering stance or any other stun nodes on the skill tree also, i dont want to be forced using Eye of Chayula just for this, any tips on the matter? |

If you don't want to use Eye of Chayula and don't want to get Unwavering Stance, then your only other choice is to get a lot more life and mitigation. 2500 life is way to low if you don't want to get stunned. You can get like 38% stun avoidance in the tree somewhere in the Ranger area, but you're still going to get stunned a lot with that low life.

2500 life and EB is a death sentence if you're in merciless.
Stunlocking is a symptom of the problem -- it's not the problem. |

You can survive with 2500 life on a ranged character, but you need good avoidance/mitigation to go with it. Depending on where you are on the passive tree, that means either armour + AA (Eldritch Battery should let you feed AA to a high level) or evasion (+ Ondar's Guile if you can reach it). If you go down the Evasion route, you shouldn't get hit often enough for stun to be an issue, and with Armour/AA, most enemies won't hit hard enough to stun. In either case, you might want to try putting Blind and/or Knockback into your Lightning Tendrils - both supports work well because LT hits so frequently. You'll lose some DPS, but it can definitely pay off in terms of keeping you safe.
Also, Eldritch Battery in itself isn't a disaster defensively, but it can be if you make poor gear choices. If you're wearing lots of ES gear for Eldritch Battery, you have to ask yourself what you want to get out of it. Maybe you don't actually need all that mana, and can replace some of it with armour/evasion? Maybe you want to use Mind over Matter to turn the spare mana into hitpoints? " yeah, im starting to see that, i am using cloak of defiance, could take a few punches so i had a false feeling of having enough HP. anyways, gonna try some of those tips from @Incompetent, hope i can save this mess :) |

to get half the stun effect you can either get stunned half the time,
or recover twice as fast. a single cloth belt can achieve this. a cloth belt and another mod, on helm or armor and you are effectively recovering better than with the half stun ES bonus. faster stun recovery is exceptionally underrated.... hell, its not even considered. consider it. |

" That is not even close to comparable. ES flat-out ignores 50% of all Stuns, preventing interruption entirely. Being able to actually move when you need to is invaluable, because the movement alone will prevent a number of hits from connecting at all (effectively granting 100% Stun Avoid against those attacks). Being Stunned for some 200 milliseconds every time you get punched just makes you a sitting duck against the next incoming hit, which can Stun you again for another 200 milliseconds, etcetera etcetera. Additionally, this: " Is also flagrantly untrue. You need 100% Stun Recovery to halve Stun duration. A Cloth Belt grants up to 25% Increased Stun Recovery, which means you are Stunned for 350 / (1 + (25/100)) = 280 milliseconds. That leaves you with 80% of the normal Stun duration. With an additional Stun Recovery mod worth 25%, you're Stunned for 350/1.5 = 233 milliseconds, or 66% of an unmodified Stun. A second Stun Recovery mod at 25% sets you up with a 200 millisecond Stun, or 57%. Also worth mentioning: the Stun recovery mod competes with Resists, Flask mods, and Attributes. Leather Belts grant up to 40 flat Life, Rustic Sashes up to 24% Increased Phys Damage. You're gonna have to give up other goodies just to get even close to halving Stun Duration through gear. ES' Stun negation is notably more powerful. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Jan 16, 2015, 8:34:58 AM

I've decided to edit my reply.
I no longer care about anyone goods opinion. everyone: I was wrong.... stun recovery will not help you recover from stun.... fuck it. thanks for your genius viper. I really need to stop contributing to the forums, I get yelled at pretty much every time I come up with uncommon solutions to problems... Last edited by AgnosiousD#2205 on Jan 16, 2015, 9:45:12 AM
