[1.3] Flameblast prolif - Critic this build

=== Build tree ===

This is an old build, inspired by a version of the The Master Blaster.

First, I want to know if you think that taking Iron Reflexes is a stupid idea, and I should go EB instead, with AA.

If Iron Reflexes is a decent option, then I'd like to know what I could improve in the current tree. Did I miss some good nodes, introduced in 1.3 or not?

------

Currently, I have
- 3.5k dps on flameblast, which seems to be enough for any maps
- 5k life
- 800 es
- 750 mana

In 1.2, I had 5.4k life. I think my build was similar, but I can really remember the beginning of the tree.

Thank you!

I remember the master blaster from back in dom.

Im sorry to say that your tree is very inefficient. The dagen nodes by shadow are far less powerful than the new celestial nodes by templar. Really there is no reason to even go over to the shadow side anymore if you are not going for a critical build. Without arctic armor, block, acrobatics, or mind over matter, you are going to get squished while casting your flameblast in more difficult content.

Here is my flameblast templar, a very simple efficient life based ignite/burn/prolif build made after examining all the other flameblast builds popular on the forum right now. It was originally going to be the mooblaster righteous fire version, but I found the sacrifices you needed to make to sustain RF outweigh its benefits.

Build

You can really skip barbarism and arsonist if you want, I was already down there as I had tested the build initially to see if I could sustain RF with just the marauder regen area (moos has duelist too), and when I realized it didn't work, I respec'd out of marauder but kept barb and arsonist since I like them.

Im 75 now with 5k hp and still missing most of the scion life wheel in addition to the fire nodes above witch, but the build still does quite fine.

I run fb-inc burning-chance to ignite-conc effect-prolif in a 5L carcass jack just like in the domination days. Though once I finish filling out the fire wheel above witch and get that +10% additonal chance to ignite, Ill probably drop the chance to ignite gem for a spell echo, which makes the fb cast MUCH faster.

For now a simple 2-3 stack flameblast with flammability on the target has over 100% chance to ignite and will clear the entire room. You just drop a curse/blast as you run through and everything burns.

Oh and for tough bosses throw in a flame surge-conc effect-faster cast-echo. While the bosses are burning it does incredible damage.

Later onm you can curse with arc-CoH-flammability in a doryanis catalyst, but its not mandatory and I do not yet own one. The arc will proc and proliferate shock and the curse, and you can grab elemental equalibrium for even better results.

Flameblast is very versatile, and there are many options for a flameblast templar. Crit, RF, CI, blocking, all have vastly different trees but play similarly.

Only the crit versio has any need to go over to the shadow area though, IMO.

Honest critique, don't hate =)

edit: oh I use rise of the phoenix for the 8% max fire res in case I hit a reflect aura mob and dont notice. Note - even with 4% max res from purity of fire and 8% from rise, a full size blast on a reflect pack WILL kill you. The damage is that high. I dont even bother with purity, I run disc for the regen boost to power AA, vitality to add to the already decent regen from the build (9-10% hp/sec with my tree and vitality, nothing to laugh at with the ~220% HP from the tree+hp on every piece of your gear but the Rise shield).

Full gear in case your curious - all very cheap <10c each aside from 2ex for the 5L carcass, and I think I paid 12c for the Rise.

Thanks, really appreciate the feedback :)

Currently, I'm doing fine even in level 78 maps, although I dont run them very often yet, I run mainly 75/77. But your tree does look better.
You say that I'm going to get killed while casting flameblast, but I usually just need a 1 charge fb to kill regular mobs (normal to rare). I usually charge it for bosses though.

Do I need inner force if playing solo? Btw, which auras are you running (or planning on running)?
edit: I read your edit

Btw, I'm using a searing touch. It helps a lot with damage I think.

build

I'm sad to drop Profane Chemistry :( This cluster is pretty OP for flasks imo ^^.

So, I respected to this build. I have mixed feelings about it.

- I gained some health, I'm now at 5.3k.
- But I lost all my es to mana
- I now have a 3k mana pool
- mana regen: 138/s. How do you support a lvl 20 AA?

Overall the thing I really dont like is that I feel like I lost quite a bit of damage overtime. Really feel like the mobs dont burn as fast...

edit: ok so I added some mana nodes and I now have 3.6k mana and 187/s mana regen. Still not enough to support AA lvl 20 :( Maybe clarity?

edit2: ok, clarity basically requires no mana and makes me jump to 272 mana/s!

There you go. You might be able to drop disc now for something else too.

You sort of level your AA with your disc and clarity =)

Im still only at lvl16 on my AA, but I have inner force which buffs AAs damage reduction and its mana usage.
I also took inner force and sovereignty. I dont think I can drop discipline just yet, as I'm still losing mana when running (veeeery slowly, and I have 700 mana unreserved, so it's fine).

Comparing the 2 builds, I'm still not convinced my old one was that bad. I definitely lost some damage, and AA is great for some type of damage, but 10k armour helped a lot too.
