What I don't understand is why can you not play the game normally and just not trade?

I mean... Why is there a kickstarter for this? Are you concerned with your own tenacity? Are you afraid you're going to break your own morale?

i dont think you know alot of (video)game conepts.
one of the biggest rule in any game is "if there is an easiest way to achieve x, then the majority of players will use it".
this is the reason why op builds get nerved.

example: you need to kill a bunch of zombies.
you can choose between a) a machiene gun b) a nuclear bomb
most people will pick the bomb and be done with the mission.

(this is also the reason why i whould like to see mf get taken out of the game but thats another story)

if this doesnt apply to you, gz, but it does for most people.
a sfl will keep the player from izi mode trading.
No.

Trading evens out luck that you may have finding gear, orbs, maps etc. Yes, someone with a Shavs dropped at the beginning of a league will have a great advantage, but overall, it will even out luck as you can (potentially) make use out of every drop by trading.

When you can't trade, people with some lucky drops will always be ahead. There is no competition to be had. In other words, a SFL is not based around competition and will never be.

Therefore, if you don't want competition, go play Standard and just don't trade. There you go, SFL already in the game. If you want competition, play Temp. Leagues.

I don't get why everyone nowadays is under the impression that it is only about HIS/HER enjoyment. This thread is so egoistic, it sickens me.

i whouldnt even play it because of the competition. because if its a perma league then someone will just get to 100 and thats it. noone gives a fuck about the ladder after that.
but if i play with friends there, i know for a fact that they worked for their stuff instead of just rmt'ing it

All of your concerns are covered by the word "OPTIONAL" in the title. If you feel you're personally not up to the challenge, simply opt into the trade leagues instead.

OPTIONAL

Some good points, really.
I just don't get what is egoistic about an optional SFL.

i have no rl friend that plays PoE. >:D
they only play LoL with me, not really arpg people.
so when i say "friends" in poe i usually mean guild people :P and i know for a fact that there are some rmt'ers
SFL is a place for the players who don't like starting over every 3 months, and don't like being stuck in a broken standard league economy if they choose to play in a permanent league. I want a permanent league that isn't wrecked by an economy and RMT. Even if that means I have to try harder, and spend a lot longer progressing through the game. For reasons stated above, I'm not currently playing PoE anymore. I quit playing PoE not because I don't like the gameplay, but because I don't like how the leagues, and the system is setup. And unless that changes at some point, I probably won't be coming back.
