PoE Crash no BSOD computer restarts

My Computer randomly restarts (blackscreen and then the computer boots up again) this only happens while playing PoE other games such as diablo 3 and league of legends work fine.

note: this happens pretty much randomly, sometimes it takes hours of playing to occure.
I know this sound like overheating but as far as I can tell its not the problem.

here are the recorded temperatures.

Have you used something like BlueScreenView to ensure it's not a BSOD happening with automatic reboot?

I've seen situations where the PC reboots automatically (and quickly) due to a BSOD.... there was no evidence it was a BSOD except that the BlueScreenView application showed the BSOD in the history and it correlated to the time of the reboot.

If it's not really a BSOD causing the reboot, then it is either a driver issue or a hardware issue... What model of PSU do you have, and have you verified that it is not under-volting the GPU or MB (which can also cause reboots)?

The most common cause for spontaneous reboots is BSOD, followed by MB or PSU issue.
im gonna install BlueScreenView

and my psu is : Xilence XP420 (420w) , it should be more than enough for my gtx660 (140w) and my FX 8320 (125w)
420W is pretty low... but it could be.

Also keep in mind you have to factor in the power draw of the HDD, DVD, Fans, etc... there's a lot more drawing power than just the GPU and CPU.

Even though components are getting a lot more power efficient, I still don't trust anything to run a high-end rig short of 500W at the low end (I have a 750w in my machine to make sure I have enough power for everything).
i checked bluescreenview and it doesnt show anything...

a hdd takes maybe 20w and fans dont take mach power either.

I dont see me using more than 420w, but even if I did why would it only crash when I play PoE ?

i mean other games would draw too much power and the computer would crash aswell.
Not all games/software are created equally.

They each have their own engines and use the system resources differently. Just because Game X has some behavior but Game Y doesn't, does not mean that Game X is the problem. It's just a symptom.

Causation vs Correlation

It's a logical flaw of humans to attribute cause due to a loose correlation.

Software in general cannot cause a PC to reboot itself. It CAN however use the system in a way that the system doesn't like, and THAT causes the PC to reboot (or shutdown).

Think of it like if you had a cracked rib. You can walk around, without much of an issue... no real pain, no real problem. Nothing is touching your rib, so you don't even really notice it. Then I come along and poke you in the rib. It's gonna hurt... a LOT... but I didn't break the rib.. it was already broken. I just poked it in the exact way that made you hurt.

I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, but it happens quite often.

PoE in specific is NOT an optimized game. It uses a LOT of resources.... simultaneously. Most other games don't pressure a system in the same way PoE does... they either work the CPU or the GPU, but rarely both. They also might not work the RAM and HDD as much as PoE does. All of these things being used together puts an enormous strain on a system, and on the power draw from a PSU. Also, not all PSUs are created equally, and although it is a 420W, perhaps it has issues under load providing the proper power to ALL the components that need it at the same time.

I generally recommend running some benchmark and stress/component tests individually at first, then together in increasing load. Start with just testing each component on its own. Then test a couple at a time, then just keep increasing the load/demand until it either crashes, or doesn't.

My guess is that along the way, you'll find something that isn't working right. Also be sure to run them for enough time to build up high demand... IE: you can't just run a 30 second test and hope that it breaks... sometimes it might take a couple of hours at high load to show signs of problems.

Good luck.
k thanks im gonna do some stress testing now and see if anything turns up

I Testet for about 3 hours and my computer didnt crash.

I used Heavy Load and selected all options after that I let it run for ~3 hours.

I really dont think that my psu is the problem since PoE never takes as much resources as the heavy load test.

What exactly is your "heavy load" test testing?

Is it only testing the CPU? If so, that isn't going to help.

You need MULTIPLE tests running at the same time that each test a different specific component. RAM test, CPU test, GPU test, HDD test, etc... you need to give ALL your components a workout at the same time.

Most "load tests" I've seen barely test the CPU by itself, let alone anything else.
I testet CPU, GPU, allocate physical and virtual memory (which I think is ram)
and I also checked the points : writing temp file & start TreeSize

all at the same time for 3 hours.
