A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

A summary of Time based events:

Timed based events are new type of event introduced in Race Season 9, they are designed to create a new kind of competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their capabilities to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Merveil, located in The Cavern of Anger.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Off of merveil, if only this was a sig :P
not a single tp or wetstone was found
worst rng ever
Finally my curse is lifted, i lived through this Merveil race. Not the best run, lots of shit layouts but still didn't die :D
2nd time running 90min Merveil, 12 whole seconds faster than my previous run lel.

Uninspiring gear

Errors/RNGlessness
- Clicked survivability talent instead of damage talent near the start (should have gone attack speed instead of Armour Evasion Life.)
- Didn't get any necklace drops or good potion drops before Merveil. No TP scrolls so had to kite a lot.

The Crypt 2 vs City of Sarn debate
In my previous 90min posts, I've often wondered if it would be better EXP to farm Crypt 2 or finish Act II and farm Sarn. I decided to use my remaining race time in this race to test the Crypt 2 side of the theory. I ended up just getting level 26, the same level as my Rogue 90min result whereby I cleared A2 then farmed Sarn til the end, although maybe a third of the level less. This was also with the help of the Wurm's Molt drop from Merveil

From all this info and data about Crypt 2 vs Act 2 clear/Sarn, it really feels neck and neck for EXP gains: Crypt 2 is stupidly safe and very fast to get to, but City of Sarn is such a faster levelling zone that it compensates for all the running around clearing Act 2 storymode. Also bear in mind that I had the Wurm's Molt, which is a very solid levelling unique.

In my opinion, Turbo/Brutal race leagues = stick to Crypt 2 for safety, whereas Norm/non-RIP mods = clear Act 2 at a good pace and Farm City of Sarn.

Think I'll take your advice on clearing Act 2 AFTER I achieve my Season 10 goal. I'm on track to get my Alpha's, so I'll rock the boat a little after that. I need to expand my horizons if I'm to get any better. =^[.]^=
