Because alt->jew->fus & chaos recipe are more useful than wisdom scrolls.

This. Selling Rares without IDing them is a sure-fire way to stay poor, unless you're using the unID chaos recipe that is. Selling Rares is your main source of alterations. If you're running out of wisdom scrolls, just sell blacksmith/armor stones for tons of them. You can also invest in a portal gem, so you can then sell your portal scrolls for wisdoms also.

As for the unID chaos recipe... I keep one tab of storage dedicated to it. In there, I store 4 sets of Rares, using only 2 hand weapons instead of shields/1handers. The bottleneck will be either rings or ammys, so once I have all my sets ready except for these pieces, I then ID and sell all Rares, till I get a ring or Ammy to complete recipe. I also ID and sell all one handers and off hands, since I don't need them for the recipe.
The quantity of rares have never been a problem, and will never be a problem. The problem is, and will always be, the quality. Good, high-end (not bis) are too hard to find.

But you can't pick out those one in a million good rares without identifying everything with wisdom scrolls...

Hence thread topic.
