Umm considering the characters background info they are more anti-heros IMHO. Cant blame mistaking them for good guys though. PoE suffers a bit from clear lack of character motivation portrayal. If anything the running theme in optional quest dialogues should be "Sure, I can take care of that McGuffin. Question is what is in it for me? Anything that dosent make me more deadlier and you are on your own buddy." Currently a lot of the quests before and after texts sound like you did it out of altruism and as a sign of goodwill the quest giver gives you stuff.

GGG has tried to establish some general goal by giving all of the exiles a small starting dialogue in Twilight strand cursing Dominus and swearing revenge. Although how do they even know that Dominus is on the continent is beyond me. Or do they mean to find a way to get back at him? If that is the case then why travel inland? My first instinct would be to travel along the coast trying to find a working vessel and if that happens the next task would be to find a crew that can navigate the seas. Or is it meant a general cursing and the rest of the journey is just a coincidence filled drifting around until you stumble across Piety and follow her to the Ebony Legion where you by sheer coincidence find Dominus? ARG so confused. Either the exiles are lucky as hell bums stumbling their way into personal success or something is missing from the main plot break points.
