Chaos recipe(s): To ID or not ID??

My rules of thumb (maybe a pinky):

- Are you going to level any alt characters?
=> YES means you should ID rares

- Is the gear you are wearing worth 1exa+ in each slot?
=> NO means you should ID rares

ilvl. 70+ = ID

Right now the chance for you to find a rare that worth 1c+ is basially something like 0.000001% even on beyond so....

IMO it totally depends on the items and time of league.

My rules are:

- shitty Base items < ilvl 75 --> un'id 2 Chaos recipe
- good Base items < ilvl 75 --> id 1 Chaos recipe
- any item > ilvl 75 --> id 1 Regal recipe

and as an exception in the first 4 weeks of a leaguq id' everything especially rings and amus becaus ppl still need some less good items to make there chars work for the endgame maps.

i personally id everything , all the upper pieces and a few more tell u why.

i can understand ppl doing unid recipe but u finding the jackpot will not happen that way.

i mean look at that mace isnt it beautifull

that boots alone will make 1o times the buck that unid recipe will ever give me.

Great insights from a lot of people, thanks. Always good to see beta players with lots of league experience chime in. I am probably going to adopt the practice of ID'ing -most- of my ring and amu but setting aside a few of the less desirable base type unid for the 2 chaos recipe...have enough of other slots to keep one set unid I thini. When I start getting 75s to drop I will probably switch to ID/regal.

I haven't read the entire thread, so my apologies if this has been mentioned.

What I do is ID everything until I'm level 70+, because there's a fair to decent chance I'll run across something usable. Once I'm at that level, I only ID things I find in 70+ maps. When I'm not in the mood for serious play or progression I'll farm merc Dom for the odd unique and for the chaos recipe. Those I leave unidentified, and usually scrap/stone to 20% to get 3 chaos for each set.

Anything from 73+ maps that gets identified and what I don't see myself using goes toward the Regal recipe. While I still don't have that one complete, I'll likely 20% those as well to get 2 regal from the identified rares.
