So I've always use IC on trigger, but I'm not completely familiar with exactly how it works. Am I correct in saying, I'd have to cast this preemptively? Or would the trigger work against the first hit?

Haven't done the palace one in a while, but I don't get why you wanna tank it.

Usually I hit quicksilver and get out of the way. The time he takes to say "the touch of god" usually leaves you enough time to do it.

Would be way worse if he hadn't that phrase.

Is your character too slow to do that?

I don't intend to tank it again. I just leveled and was testing new defenses. My question in this thread is intended to shed light on damage numbers. Strangely domni didn't speak before smashing me. Could this be the result of fast monsters map mod? Does boss even get that mod?

You take damage first, that causes the trigger.

In practice this is very useful for a bunch of charging rhoas (or other physical attacks in rapid succession): you take damage from the first, IC triggers and you're immune to the others that would otherwise damage you in the next 2 seconds or so. Very useful for low armour (evasion based) characters to prevent those sort of deaths (stun - lock).

In this case you'd need to self cast it because (in theory) the lightning fist would damage you and trigger the IC, so you would be immune against physical damage for the FOLLOWING 2 seconds (or so).
