Duped mirrors?

425 exalts on standard is by no means alot of currency.

People need to realise that having 500+ exalts is nothing unusual on the perm leagues.

dude I have around..... 3 in my stash right now?
and that's counting both Standard and Hardcore league.
and I've been playing for almost two years. note: "playing". a.k.a "killing stuff".

this guy... he just put over 400 into one trade window for one transaction.
I... I feel like crying to be honest.

There's playing, and then there's playing efficiently. I think the "efficiency" part is what you're missing.

Most people with large amounts of wealth these days did so by farming Atziri and then Uber Atziri.

Given the typical person farming Uber Atziri is level 92+ (and I don't believe I've seen anything over mid 70s in your profile), they're playing more than you are, and they're playing at a higher level.

It is pretty easy to acquire large sums of currency with *very* minimal trading if you play enough.

You cannot get rich if you dont trade a lot, unless you are extremely lucky with 1 or 2 drops
@Glowerss, I intentionally limit myself to level 75.

my two level 78 chars are a "mistake" according to that rule. the result of me wanting to try out maps up to level 75 solo (and up to Palace in a group), and realizing most of them are exactly the same as level 66-74 maps - troll RNG drops, "skip bosses" and all that - except monsters just hit stupidly harder.
grinding a bit more, even though I know for a fact it's just that: grinding. nothing more really.

since the start of Open Beta, I did pretty much all the content I could do. multiple times over, and on multiple scenarios and artificial "difficulty-boosting" modifiers, races and leagues.

I honestly don't try any more, because I know the content I never tried - like the crazy new Unique RIP maps - is content I never will try. and the gear I didn't get? the mirrored and unique BiS shit on the trade forums? is gear I'll never get. ever.
there's no point.

even if RNG generously opens the content gate for me - and I doubt it - I simply do not have the gear required.
can't honestly imagine trying to solo Death And Taxes on my pretty-well-but-not-crazy-geared Archer. and she's the best-geared one I've got.
the other 78 guy is a melee Cyclone Marauder. Atziri taught him a valuable lesson when Sacrifice Of The Vaal came out. one shot to the face, right after her minions did that a couple of times too.

even if I manage to kill the nastiest Exile/Rare/Beyonder/Boss - and I won't because I'll get one-shot - the loot won't be anything near worth it.
........

got friends who are above level 90, who feel exactly the same.
grind. RNG. gated content. one-shots and gear-checks for "difficulty". more grind.
can you tell them "well you'll be rich as fuck and have everything you'd ever want, if you no-life and/or take risks/challenges and/or push towards 100"?
over 2000 hours of Path Of Exile and literally hundreds of tough challenges beaten, and about a billion monsters killed - say WRONG!

you get lucky. you trade. you party with people who got lucky and traded. that's it.
maybe you fucking cheat/scam/hack/bot/RMT a bit to speed up the process.

don't be me, kids. you'd want to bash your head into the keyboard playing this game trying to get something you sure as fucking hell deserve, out of it.
I'm a hopeless casual alt-o-holic nowadays, and I do it to keep what's left of my sanity intact.

and when one guy puts 400 fucking exalts into one trade window, I just want to scream "fuck you Path Of Exile!" but I can't. I'm too addicted to the good parts of this game. even more than I'm frustrated by the bad ones.

playing 2 years and having 3 exalts wealth => you are doing it wrong.

I only sell what I find, I don't flip, and my currencies are over 300 exalts, and I have more than 500 exa worth gear....
IGN TylordRampage
yes Malone, I am doing it wrong.
read my post for my definition of "doing it right" in Path Of Exile.

that's how GGG designed it. that's their "vision".

I looted 7 ex in Rampage so far, 99% of playtime spent in maps. Could easily sell gear for about 60 ex, but I wont cause I might want to try a build someday. Imo, there's about three caste in this game:

1.) Playing pre-Merc Act3, pre-map content, either trading or not == baseline, poor as fuck player

2.) Playing Merc & maps, with some MF, easy or no trading == 10x multiplier, still poor, but not as fuck. Can afford to buy or will eventually loot items in 1 - 10 ex range. With enough tenacity can do most builds, clear most content.

3.) Playing high maps, Atziri farming, multiboxing, multiplay, heavy trading / flipping == 1000x multiplier. Top moguls.

Basically the 1.) guys are not even playing PoE, not the "bread & butter" of it, anyway.
When night falls
She cloaks the world
In impenetrable darkness
we both know I'm in category (2), Morbo.
but it sure as hell feels like I'm in (1) to be honest.

and I'll never get to (3) it seems. not even if I go ahead and just sell away all my accumulated gear thus far - legacy and all - and convert all my lesser orbs to Exalts, via the only way they can be converted: flea market.

that may net me as much as 100 Exalts of "wealth", and not a shred of feeling better about my sorry-ass, 2k-hour-playing in-game self.
I'll most likely quit if I do this.

Path Of Exile simultaneously makes you feel like you have a world of options - thereby getting you addicted - and makes you feel like nothing you do really matters, unless you do it "as intended".
and sometimes it just trolls you or wrecks you for no damn reason, as if it's a game made by that school bully who nearly ruined your childhood.

2 years played, i only play 70+ maps with hard mods. I can beat atziri, i keep all yellows, lesser orbs, etc for vendor / recipes and yes... i am so far away to have 400 exalts.

I still playing for the good things that this game have... but seriously, the economy is THE WORST what i ever seen.
