i really enjoy split Dom runs, you know what you need to do and you just do it. and i like racing to the top. but 1000s of runs ? not a freaking chance. i can barely stand to run maps. i keep finding cool people to play with or i would have quit long ago...

I made 250-ish exalts worth of wealth from currency (chaos recipe) and selling items. I didn't find a Shavs, but I did find a Soul Taker and a Binos which combined sold for 65 exalts.

Did I have fun? Sort of. It is certainly fun every once in a while to find a good (2 ex+) item, and I'm very glad I did it because it enabled me to put together my endgame Rainbownuke build, but I don't think I would ever do it again. It also gave me something to do during an expansion that I hated (I really despise almost all the design choices made in SotV).

To give you an idea how grindy it was... it took me 6 months, and I leveled a gem to 20 with nothing but the XP from Dominus kills. Took me somewhere around 600 hours of playtime doing nothing but Dominus farming.

I doubt it was the most efficient way to do things - I played solo (no split runs), and I did not multibox. Split runs/multiboxing are annoying and un-fun for me, so I didn't care. I don't necessarily like min-maxing everything I do in this game; I play to relax and have fun. I also did it on Standard where it's impossible to sell anything but GG rares and where Shavs costs 110 ex+ for a 6L. Probably would be more efficient to farm Dominus in a temp league with less IIR/IIQ but where good rares are sellable and where prices are half (or less) what they are in Standard.

Ironically Jake made his fortune by taking the expansion you hated, and farming Atziri/Uber Atziri until his eyes bled exalts.

I'm really only jelly of one single thing that the Jakester has accomplished.

Am i reading right? Some ppl are seriously pushing this thread to risk/reward discussion? This is an arpg, there are no guaranteered drops, and never will. You knew and know it. I propose playing d3 casually, makes some fun and you are rewarded constantly (until a certain gear lvl ofc, ~2 weeks 10 hours gaming)

personally i would say not for profit.... coz seriously... if you manage to get one it will be worth at least all the shavs you used or shavs you used x2. so far you've corrupted 4 shavs with 6l no less... the only people who can afford your corrupted shav would probably afford corrupting it themselves...
