Where did your Chain Support Gem drop?

A zombie cannot drop a chain on the first mob, chain has a level rep of the monster to beable to drop since it is a highlevel gem, you can get any currency item from any monster in the game, you could technically get a mirror off hillock, but he will never drop chain and he will never drop a lvl 64 armour peice in normal

Well that is of course how every other game in the world works but these guys seem confident of the idea that every mob in the game can drop everything. I don't mean to troll them, not at all but I'd like to see if the theory hold water.

It's a level 31 gem so it drops off anything capable of dropping level 31+ items. Meaning level 29 yellow/unique monsters, level 30 blues, or level 31 anything else. It will not drop from a level 1 zombie, ever.

I have a feeling gems have a special drop system on top of that, with certain color gems dropping more often in certain situations. Most likely tied to the weapon equipped, but stats or build could also be involved. Could be coincidence of course, but I have been noting a trend on gem color drop rates since I started playing.

It´s the currency items that can drop from any mob whatsoever.
You could actually get a mirror on the first zombie at the beach.

1) in felshrine cruel farming
2) cruel oak wasn't him i think was his minions
3) Lunar temple 3 before the cages.
4) Hilly merciless
5) fetid pool merciless

hmmm really seems like everyone wants one of these.

Thanx everybody for the replies. Now I have a better understanding of how and where the gem have a chance to drop.

In closed beta I had more Chain gems than Spell totems, everyone wanted spell totems
so before this post I tried the trade channel saying "Spell totem for Chain gem"
and got like 20 replies of them giving orbs and spell totem for the chain so it's definitely
a very attractive gem currently.

Perhaps Chain was a quest reward back then, don't remember.

I have not had one drop yet. I had to go on the trade chat to get one for my LA Ranger.

I have 2x characters at level 52 now, so I guess I might be considered a "casual", but as this is a much sort after gem for some builds I think it should be a high level quest reward rather than a world drop.

I don't remember where they dropped, but I have had 3 chain gems and one 6% qual chain gem drop since OB started.

It wasn't. It also was 2-3x more expensive.
