2.3 Fakener (budget fake Mjölner) build - Trickster Version

Really nice build, I have played it for some time, and I really like it!

I've come across a dagger from vagan that I yolo regaled to spell dmg

My question is:

Would this Vagan dagger with mulitmod (attack speed, crit, light leech) be better than my current dagger?

I hope Mathil is coming up a new skill tree to upgrade this build for the 2.0 release. It's one of his most famous builds after all. I started this build only about a few days back and I'm already blowing everything up at Lvl 55. Sincerely hoping this build doesn't get nerfed cuz I want to be able to kill Atziri with atleast one of my characters T_T

Can someone explain to me where does he get all that attack speed? How is he getting over 4 aps on cyclone?

AWAKENING UPDATE

Updated Passive Tree for 2.0

As of 2.0 Awakening Fakener is still a viable and great build. The leech change however has made it so that single target leech is near non existent even with the gem + vaal pact. You'll be relying plenty on your life flasks for survival. I address this issue in a video found HERE along with some gameplay. I'll summarise everything else about Fakener below:

With 2.0 Fakener is a lot easier to level since Cast on Crit has 50% chance at level 1 when you get it at 38. To level the build I simply went with EK/Incin or whatever you feel like while picking up all the crit you can to the right side of the tree. By 38 you'll have 50ish crit when wearing a dagger and you can start Fakenering. I recommend using triple Elreon jewelry to make the cyclone free on a 4L of Cyclone, CoC, Life leech and Discharge. This all requires you to have some level of built up items/currency so I would still not recommend Fakener as your first character. Nothing it requires is too expensive, just specific (elreon, voll protector, alts to roll a dagger or vagan dagger).

A vagan dagger is currently the best way to go about gearing. Try your best to get a skean or poignard and roll crit on it with the master if you fail to do so with an aug/regal. That'll set you up for a while and mean you need no accuracy on gear at all.

For auras I still go purity of fire/light to help mitigate some reflect damage but reflect is not much of an issue with vp/leech gem. Herald of ice is then used to allow your cyclone to proc Elemental Equillibrium.

Once you start getting into 5 or 6 link territory as well as Voll's Devotion, you'll need to go back to running the build on Blood Magic and that will consume a link. Without Voll's Devotion and with a couple mana reduction passives paired with Elreon Jewelry you can still get away with a 5 link. This won't be the ultimate build though.

The main form of defense for the build now is a bit of evasion from shield/helm but mostly a larger life pool and Fortify on whirling blades. You should be able to achieve about 1k more life than before in 2.0.

Lastly, I believe Scion to be the best start if you can get good jewels with preferably life and crit/crit multi. Shadow is still fine otherwise.

I didn't get a chance to iron out all of the kinks and the build overall is perhaps not as optimized as it once was but it should still be a lot of fun. Good luck everyone.
