Palace Dominus damage output is overboard

What about melee? How can you fight against him? I fought only once and instaripped. Although map had "4 additional projectiles" :P
I got hit for 13k on only added Fire by Touch of god

I believe you've said before that Vaal was the best designed boss - what do you think about the desync there?

I know from experience having been smashed in the face - onehit KO - to him from being on the otherside of the room a couple of times, happily on SC leagues.

I laughed. The only people that can dodge his attacks are people that skill unwavering stance or have an item that grants stun immunity.
Everyone else cant dodge anything due to desynch. You get rubberbanded into his lightning ghost spam and then you lose 14k hp in 1 second.
Unwavering stance is irrelevant if you get hit by nothing. You don't do a minus max dominus by getting an occasional lightning stream on your character. That's a nice way to die in seconds.

Desync is not bad with dominus compared to courtyard, second atziri fight, piety and many other bosses. He moves relatively slowly and you have clear obstacles to stop his moves.

His lightning ghost move is only hard to dodge if you're doing 3 extra projectile maps. Even then it's very possible even as a melee. I did residence with my 58 spellblock melee character that had 3 extra projectiles. Used no topaz, just ran around and went behind obstacles(residence has a harder layout than palace).

I wrote this a couple of times: Dominus is GGG attempting to re-create the success that is Vaal, but doing so in a completely overkill fashion:

where Vaal follows the player and selects attacks based on AI and player actions, Dominus tries to do the same - only dumber and faster. sometimes faster than an average player can react, and often with no warning.
where Vaal has well-defined roles in the fight for each and every attack - Dominus just has a bunch of attacks with one common denominator of doing ridiculous damage.
where Vaal has minions to distract you, while he still remains the "star of the show" - Dominus has a fucking army that clutters the screen, hits you while standing in zones you can't get to (rain), and blows up in your face.
where Vaal has absolutely no unnecessary "eye-candy" that's not related to the actual fight, Dominus has "atmosphere" you can't do a damn thing about, except watch your FPS plummet.

I can go on, but I think you got the idea.

desync? it's sadly present everywhere. but while in Vaal's case it's a great fight slightly ruined by it - Dominus' case is just desync being the last straw.

but GGG seem to think the "overwhelming the player and his PC with everything all at once" approach, is the way to go in boss fights. otherwise please explain that new Merveil fight again.

damn it I wish they instead just let the guy responsible for Vaal, do all the bosses.

Shadow: That was fun
Vaal is harder to dodge than dominus first phase though. The first laser is only avoidable if you were already moving. Rocks are completely unpredictable. There is no obstacles to recover potions or hide behind.

While not directly related to vanilla vaal.. the one in the Atziri dungeon is actually the least avoidable boss and can often be the hardest uber boss for many builds.
