I'm still new,and a friend told me that this doesn't make sense :why run PhysToLight if Signal Fire and Lighting arrow already does 50% each?
I told him I followed the guide xD |

So, after some really long time trying, I accidentally got a 6link on my full ele TS build.
The 5 links I was running were - TS + weapon ele dmg - phys to light - GMP - phys projectile dmg. What do you think is the best 6th link assuming that: 1) I have no other skill for single target 2) I have barrage as other skill so I keep TS for map clear And also, were I to use 6link Barrage for ST (as the dps against some bosses sucks), what gems do I use there? What do you think about Point Blank gem in that setup? My guess would be that I play barrage at almost melee range and go: Barrage - phys to light - weapon ele dmg - phys projectile - slower projectiles - faster attacks/pointblank Last but not least, how good is Maim compared to other gems? To me it seems a tad bit inconvenient given that it's red gem and you cannot easily swap it with others. Thanks for hints! |

" I give you the benefit of doubt because you are leveling a scion. Not an easy task with the 3.0 lvling.. a) mana leech while leveling 1) thief's torment 2) mana gain on hit jewels 3) mana gain on gear for 1c max 4) elreon rings you are using 5) alira as bandit choice (not advisable unless you are opting for her anyway). But if you are rich and hate leveling.. 6) reduce mana reservation to 50% 7) mana flask 8) temporary nodes like spirit void, or others. There is no point in exactly replicating the endgame tree 1:1. Rangers should always pick proj dmg at the start etc. I know that you need more respecs but there are plenty of useful mana nodes tbh. 9) clarity (don't think its necessary) 10) CoH-AM I hope I helped you but thats about the last time I write on this topic. The same question will surely be asked again 1-2 pages anyway. b) Leveling in general This build isn't THAT bad to level with twinked gear as a ranger. However, it's a) a lot worse compared to 2.6 because of perma bossfight mode from act 5-6 on and the ridicolous dmgspikes b) I feel like the whole leveling process is balanced around T1 builds. I can't understand why I had less dmg with twinked 400c+leveling gear (+1blackgleam into +1 drillneck, doomfletch's prism, tabula,..) with twinked tree and appropriate supports compared to leveling SSF sunder from scratch. It was ok though. You are playing a scion too, which doesn't help your cause. Don't panic, ask a friend for a couple of bosskills and farm A9 aqueduct.. Thanks for bringing up this topic since I'm wondering why so many people are complaining about the endgame in tthis thread and so few about leveling. With the latter being quite a bit more complicated and tedious imo. |

Just curious at what point can we take the spirit void wheel? It seems way down there on the skill tree and I didn't actually see it taken in any of the pictures. ( I probably missed it somewhere I'm sure)
Thanks! |

" Can you at least refer to my last post on this topic? OP isn't answering questions during the league so the thread is just a discussion between forum users. You can take it at any point no matter how the endgame tree looks like. You level and take nodes which help you reaching your goal...and respec later. If you are travelling through life leech take the 2pointer, if not, mana flows, flask nodes, w/e. I don't even understand. Last edited by juerk#7020 on Sep 12, 2017, 7:35:08 PM

" As with all builds when it comes to mana leech, life leech and basic attributes (or even all resists at some cases) - you take tree nodes (whichever are close/available to you) as soon as you need them and let go of them whenever your gear permits you to do so. The trees depicted at (many) guides assume that you have all the above from your optimized gear hence they show you the absolute top-choice if you can spend all your point elsewhere. |

So I was following this build to the letter, running tornado shot like a good student. And then, in act 5, this little thing passed by:
Just think about it. A lightning arrow with chain and GMP can hit 5*3=15 targets. If you run death's opus (which I do), with this jewel you can hit 3*6=18 targets (ignoring ice shot aoe). And now you have two extra gem slots to put damage supports! The moment I laid my eyes upon that jewel, I knew it was destiny. Now, at level 85, I have a screenwipe skill that deals 70k dps with full charges. That doesn't include the 20% damage vs chilled enemies, of which there will be a lot. I have dropped my barrage setup, IS provides all the single-target dps I need. And although Atziri just wiped the floor with me, I'm sure I could take her on with better movement. So I want to commend the flexibility of this build: that I was able to switch from tornado to ice shot within seconds. My bow and gem setup:
