RIP Chaos value in Standard?

Seems every month the Chaos:EX ratio is getting higher and higher. My theory is people are overdoing the Chaos vendor recipe. The money sinks for Chaos aren't getting used enough. And it's not because Exalts just became as rare as Mirrors. I remember in Closed Beta the ratio being real low. It's like we are dealing with two different currencies here (ex: American Dollars vs Nigerian dollars).

I've seen Regrets:EX rise in price but not nearly as fast as Chaos:EX.
Standard's economy dies every fucking day lol there's no saving it just continues to raise and raise.

Fuck that economy.

I agree that it is the chaos recipe combined with lack/diminishing currency sinks. I used chaos on higher mAps before 1.2 but the increased difficulty on maps and changed the risk reward ratio for me. I now alt for lack size and magic monsters or rogue exile.

The masters would have been a great currency sink for more common orbs. The map mods that cost exalts are simply not worth it. The item mods that cost divines and exalts will rarely be used. They could have made the 1ex cost in 30 chaos and made it attainable by what I believe was the target group. It would have enabled the self founders too maybe. Hard to say.

Oh well.
Thanks for all the fish!
It just fluctuates. Chaos has gotten more valuable vs exalts since 1.2 dropped, as the ratio has dropped from ~34:1 to ~31:1.

You also have to remember that in temporary leagues, the chaos:ex ratio always approaches 40:1 in the middle of the league, so I don't think it's fair to say "RIP chaos value in Standard" when chaos actually often has MORE value in standard than the equivalent temp league.

It is actually really surprising that after this long time the chaos-value is still around 1:30 to 1:35 it might even be more constant than any other trade in standard.

Yeah, Standard gets a really bad rap on this forum that it doesn't deserve. There's really only two issues with Standard and that's it:
1) BiS gear is insanely expensive
2) Crappy gear won't sell because so much good stuff is available for super cheap

The currency ratios are no worse in Standard than any other league.

Solution: Play Hardcore!

Here the ratio decreased from 25:1 to about 22:1 (Chaos : Exalted)

And we NEED more player in Hardcore!

If you look at the common ratios in Standard chaos are worth more than exalteds.

Commonly you'll find 1 exalted worth 31-34 chaos. But if you want to buy something with exalteds, you're better off buying it with chaos because the ratio is usually around 2 fusings to 1 chaos but 40 fusings to one exalted.

So if you sell your exalted for chaos, you can get 2-8 more fusings per exalted by converting it to chaos first. Fusings are just an example, other currency follows this too, although to a lesser extent.
stop crying
Chaos:Ex once reached the 80:1 ratio...

People are really that dumb as to sell their fusings 2:1 for chaos in Standard right now?
