I'm in the same boat. Just before Rampage I was running 71-73 maps all day long and only did maps below 70 for a laugh and to get faster gem experience.

Now my pool struggles to get more than 2-3 maps at just over 70 and I am currently with one remaining super hard 71 map, NO 70s, NO 69s and stacks of 66-68s with my currency pool slowly diminishing. Really not happy, but what can you do...

I think it's kind of sad that you have to grind your ass off just to be able to grind some more :P

I mean, why gate the leveling process behind RNG and luck? Doesn't GGG believe in their own games replayability?

To stretch the content. If players could progress through maps seamlessly, they would be "done" with their character much sooner.

I'm kind of torn about it. On one hand, I understand the reason and even agree that it does provide long-term goals. On the other hand, my 87 Ambush character that I had wanted to take to 90 fizzled out because I ran out of maps higher than 69. I didn't have enough currency to buy 74+ maps (partly because I had used it to chisel and alch maps), and running 69 maps to rebuild the pool for almost no XP was so unappealing that I stopped playing for a month (could have farmed Piety, I guess, but I wanted to map).

There is probably some middle ground somewhere.

haha I know the feeling. Last season I dropped 7 exalts! That was the bomb. This one none. Not only that no unique over 2 chaos in value. RNG is RNG. I'm on the bad end this season so far.
