What's the point of Iron Rings
|
1-4 phys dmg isnt that bad because it is base dmg.
Sure resistance or life is better because PoE OB is so difficult. But when I have enough ress and life on my high end armour-gear I definately prefer Iron Rings |

they should implement a scaling, or change it to % damage

What's the point of Iron Rings?
To make the other rings look good. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. guys, guys. 1-4 physical damage is, like, almost 1/20th of the possible elemental damage you can get on a ring!

Dropping those two rings from my equipment loses me literally 700 DPS, from 1574 to 888. Turns out physical damage scales really well. And those aren't even high physical rolls, and I'm not exactly doing a lot of lightning and fire damage. When I later replace them with these: I expect to get another 300-500 damage on each hit. Iron rings serve to practice your swearing skills when you find a good rare iron ring instead of an elemental or gold ring!
Also they're good in early game to boost your damage while you're using level 1 weapons. |

Facebreakers. That said, I don't mind them giving Iron Rings higher stats :)
Unarmed for life! (although I do like maces too recently)

There are a ton of problems right now with the implicit mods of items. Onyx Amulets are excessively powerful compared to the 3 stat amulets, and the life/mana/all resist rings are much more powerful than all the other types of rings.
Also, the physical damage belts are basically useless (at least for melee builds) since 35 strength gives 7% physical damage + life + gear options. At the moment, the implicit mods are very unbalanced because there is such a clear winner in almost every category that it is silly to use anything else. In fact, you are gimping yourself if you don't use the better types of items, which is a complete disregard for GGG's philosophy on itemization. |

" This. I feel like if you're not using a Leather Belt (or Chain Belt if you're CI), you need to have a damn good reason. The only reason I'd use any type of amulet other than Onyx is because I need way more of a certain spec or I don't have a fitting onyx on me. I think the rings are kinda okay as they are (sometimes you need one specific res in high amounts), but this is really a chronic problem with belts especially and amulets to a lesser degree.
