Max amount of points one can realistically refund per character?

What # of passive points can one refund per character, realistically, before it just becomes easier to just re-roll? 20? I know that once you finish the game you end up with 8? Is 20 feasible? I don't know how hard it is to farm for orbs of regret once you're at end game. Just curious.

I've yet to spend one respec point, and I tested a lot of my weird stuff out before the expansion.
You get 6 respec points through side quests per difficulty for a total of 18.

You can buy Orbs of Regret from merchants for (I think) 2 Scouring, and 1 Scouring for 4 Orbs of Chance.

Didn't realize it was 18. How hard are the orbs of regret to farm? Sounds like it'd be fairly possible to undo 20-30 points before getting tired?
Currency drops are completely random, it isn't really feasible to farm for a specific Orb. You can always trade other currency Orbs to other players for their regrets.

depends on how fast you can level and how fast you can aquire wealth.

It takes 2-4 days for me to get to lvl 65 on a new character. If I can farm up enough regrets in less time than that then it's worth it to keep the existing character. Although you will end up wealthier in the long run if you level a new character instead of using a ton of regrets

If we're talking 2-4 days to get 25 (average of 20-30) regrets, it's better to just make the new character.

It not only allows you to make the changes for free, currency-wise, but if there is another full passive respec you now have two characters that you can play with.

I only redo a character if there is no full respec in sight or if I don't want to spend the time to make a new character.
I have now lvl 71 and 28 characters in Rampage and have found one Orb of Regret so far

I probably won't go that fast. But I'm surprised you say that you'd be wealthier starting a new character. Isn't high level farming profitable in this game?

I generally prefer being at max level and making adjustments accordingly. Although, I do like leveling and alting in this game. Good to know that having more characters is useful.

While you may not have found any, I also want to include the option of trading in lower quality orbs for orbs of regret by using the vendors.

End game farming can be more profitable item-wise but low level zones have the same chance as high level zones to drop currencies. Really it just comes down to preference, if you are more comfortable in high level farming mode then it's not like you are missing out on a lot by using as many regrets as you need. At the VERY most it will cost you on the order of 100 regrets to give yourself a full respec at lvl 71, much more if you revert bandit choices... It's just currency. During the time you are farming you can still gain levels as well.

You aren't losing out one way or the other, it just depends on how much time/effort you want to put in, and what kind of grinding you tolerate best

As mainly a HC player, restarting is not too big of a deal. Time wise.

Those currency items are going to take a lot longer to get than restarting.

But... if you have the currency items and you do not mind losing them and really do not want to restart i would go ahead and use the currency items up.

They don't do you any good sitting in your stash. Use them to speed things up.

I do it all the time making new weapons to level up with even though i would be better off trading. I just don't like taking the time to trade when I may outgrow it soon.
