Objective comparison between gameplay of D3, T2 and PoE

Are you referring to Torchlight 2? If so it's only doing internal testing. It won't release until late this year.

Videos are about the only comparisons you are going to be able to get. You are comparing 3 games of the same genre, but no where near the same amout of funding. It's not fair to compare this game, or Torchlight 2, to D3. Blizzard has an enormous amount of backing to create their games. They make millions a month off of just one of their games subscriptions.

Don't forget this game is free...

Blizzard is using the same engine to make D3 that they used to make Warcraft.

The "amount of funding" used to make D3 is laughable on a grand scale. The most money they put into the game more than likely went towards the physics engine. Oh, and it is fair to compare any of those games to D3 because their all in the same genre.

Thanks

Is this really true? I don't doubt it from the look of the game though...

unless that is one heavily Modded Warcraft Engine i dun think so
No they are using a brand new 3D engine called Havoc for D3 while WoW doesn't have a physics engine really.

I remember when WoW got out, it wasnt as well "thought out" as today, still thousand times more fun. Budget is not everything, even these days where such a company is making millions.

Also I hope, that Blizzard doesnt pick up to much from the WoW skill system etc. because its pretty worn out these days, not nearly as fun as a realy big skilltree like PoE´s :)

But as PoE is free and neither T2 or D3 are released or near release, I dont think its realy time to judge already. This discussion will be brought up on release a thousand times anyway :D
Have not played any of the game but my current feeling is that:

Diablo 3: Catering to casuals

Torchlight 2: Somewhere inbetween

Path of Exile: Tooltips? Fucking figure it out yourself

I never got why people say this. I've played WoW on and off since vanilla, and while I can't say much about raiding since I usually get bored of it really quickly, the quests in Cata were the best I've played in any MMO. It was really painful playing Rift after that.

I think this idea that people have that D3 is going to be wowified carebear land is totally wrong personally.

Im sure its easy enough to get by just casualling through the game from time to time. But with the new rune system theres an amazing amount of potential builds and depth, certainly not casual friendly in that regard.

T2 is very casual friendly, indeed T1 felt like Diablo lite for 12 year olds, not just cause of the graphics either, the stats were simplistic and number variance was limited. Nothing felt complicated or big, was a very generic simplistic game. Not bad for the cost but honestly I dont see what the fuss is about.

D3 vs T2 is literally no contest, D3 will destroy it. POE well im new here and dont know loads about it yet, but it seems like its coming at it from a different angle. You know its F2P for a start but also the semi classless system, massive variance of abilities. Its going to be a game for people who love spreadsheets and creating min/maxed builds. It looks brilliant and I think in style its much more in keeping with the original D1 and act1 and 4 of D2... which is no bad thing.

List of features that I feel are the main selling points for each game

PoE

- Flasks: Love this idea, found the need to constantly manage potions annoying, and better than hp/mp globe drops since you can control the use of it

- Skill grid: Looks like it will provide lots of options for character builds

- Skill gems: Same as the grid, provides more build options

Diablo 3

- Polish: Looks really sleek and well made, and characters control well. This is important as I really dislike TQ's controls which felt sluggish in comparison

- Skill runes: Provides more options for character builds

- Little things like having chain kills providing bonuses really help to break up the typical ARPG monotony of just plowing through mobs

TorchLight 2

- Mods: Single biggest selling point for me
