The -15% exp penalty is obnoxiously bad outdated design.

Having exp loss in a grindy game where you can randomly go 3000+ -> 0hp in the span of 3 seconds is retarded design.

Now add in bad netcode, rubberbanding, invisible projectiles and burning aura mobs that still do full damage 3/4 of the screen away(in your client) and this is the complete opposite of fun.

You have it easy, when i die i have to reroll my character

Also even if you did play with pure defense chicken !@#! style of gameplay where you pull and fight mobs so slowly you can still get killed by desynch issues/lag/RNG for shield wearers.

Desync and lag are mostly issues caused by the beta stage of the game (even if not at all to be removed/excluded completely) RNG is a thing for the balance, but to some degree also a demand for your own skill to avoid its consequences...

If you dont see the challenge, you may think again - if you dont want it, you may consider to be wrong here. ^^

And - what about 'hardcore'? Isnt this even more "bad outdated design"? - You dont just loose some XP on dying: You loose all of your progress (in that league)... :D

You're supposed to be penalized for dying. It stops you from mindlessly grinding and makes you aware of everything that is going on. Because if you make a mistake you'll pay for it. I hear that MLP land is a wonderful and magical place. Perhaps you should return there.
Not all modern game design philosophies are simply better.

On personal level, I loath the "positive reinforcement" and "give carrot instead of stick" mentalities when it comes to gaming.

If you suck, think how can you improve your strategies. Quit whining and play smarter.

No risk. No adventure.

I-I AM SKILLED R-RIGHT!

You can choose to play the game anyway you want. That's the beauty. Some people will do what you said, some people will brave forward. They both can die, sometimes you see 3 lightning arc casters 3 levels below you and you think you're fine. Then all 3 of them crit twice in a row in seconds and somehow you died. Even though you have 80% lightning resist and shit. You aren't forced to be super cautious. It's a player decision and that's what's beautiful. Hardcore is amazing, it gets your heart furiously pumping and your hands sweating.
i'm someone who heavily advocates quality-of-life changes, but removing the death penalty would be ridiculous.

this nerf would affect the gameplay in a actual game-killing way.

i see sooo many people advocating glasscannon builds and this would make it even worse. build diversity is great, because tanky builds have a small niche even in default league. remove death penalty and everyone and their grandma would run 100% dps builds within a week.
Aww...

So much hate in this little one it even becomes cute!!!

Now;
-Go back and play your allmight facerolltrooper of Barbarian in Diablo III

One of you kind should not even be allowed to put out his/her/IT'S comment on a forum.

People of you nature is not wellcome here.

- You arguments are horrible.
-The name calling you got going on is just, waow! - There is not even words for this.

Now cuuuuttiiipie, would you be a dear and crawl back to you Troll-cave
zzZzzzZzzZz
exp penalty is great idea - shouldn't auto level for grinding and dying..

in my opinion, the only thing lacking in PoE is corpse runs.. exp loss + corpse run just makes you not want to die - ie - more exhilirating.. it sucks when you die, but makes you try harder..

and always a frightening thought thinking about all your equpiment lying next to a boss.
I find it funny how some people got used to how fluffy and carebear games have been in the past 10 years. I remember playing Ultima Online in the end of the 90s (and continued into early 00s) and there not only could someone gank me and loot my items they could also loot them if I died to a mob. Losing a bit XP is nothing, I'd rather see more penalties added when you die like corpse-runs.

I agree that no having a penalty on death would seem weird.
