Hailrake had been nerfed because it turned off new players (at least that is how I understood it) and was part of making normal difficulty easier or at least more smooth. The new Merveil seems to kind of go against this. Like I said, not a complaint, just an observation.

I would love if more of the bosses were of this difficulty, I am going semi glass cannon on taiwaneese server with 350+ ping and spikes in the thousands. Doing Self found


Currently lvl 43 ingame.

Looks like all of the ranged damage sources in the new battle can be manually avoided. Great improvement if so.

Hailrake liked to start spamming his ice spears from offscreen, and if the first one landed and crit, the other three were enough to plow through small life flasks and one coral ring and finish you off before the first spears freeze ended. Generally fine for veteran players, but its not hard to see how this sort of cheap feeling death could make some new players ragequit.

The new merveil battle, otoh, looks pretty fair and is also not right at the start of the game.
