New rig or upgrade
I'd suggest heading over to reddit.com/r/buildapc and browsing some specs people post there/reading some discussion. Lot's of knowledgeable people and they will find the best deals on parts if you're looking to purchase.
I use http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/ to plan my dream builds. It'll let you know if you have any comparability issues and make sure your psu can support the rig and all that good stuff. If you're looking for a budget build I suggest the Pentium G3258.. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117374 this thing is a beast, OC ready with a z97 mobo and will handle pretty much anything at max settings with the right GPU of course. |

Ok, think I decided on just putting in a gaming card. Overwhelming amount of people said nvidia, so that is what I am going with. I am debating between two:
EVGA GeForce GTX780 3GB GDDR5 384bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready Graphics Card, OR, EVGA GeForce GTX770 SuperClocked with EVGA ACX Cooler, 2GB GDDR5 256bit, DL DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP, SLI Ready Graphics Cards The 780 is a couple hundered more, would I actually see a diffence in the extra 200 or would that be a waste? |

If you have the budget for the GTX780 I would definitely go for that, but it also depends on the rest of your configuration I guess...

To be honest, i find half of this to be confusing as hell.
I understand what most people are saying, but once people start recommending this vs that and discussing their different opinion, its hard to read between all the noise. I was hoping for a consensus of get this card and this power supply to match so I just took what I heard and met in the middle as best I could. A couple of people I know close to where I live recommend getting a really high end video card that could also be used to build my own computer. If I didn't like the performance on the current set-up I could swap the card right into a new build. Makes sense to me. |

Yeah that is why I use a forum like tweakers.net.
These reviews are not just some random advices, it are balanced systems based on a discussion between experienced forum users with technical backgrounds working together with the employee that writes the post who takes everything in consideration. Those systems I posted are really fine, but if you want to get the GTX780 I recommend balancing your other components around them to avoid having to upgrade other components early when they become a bottleneck for you setup.
