Small Rant about the Buff/Debuff Interface

Good day,

I recently died in the 1 Month League at lvl79 to the Arbiter of Knowledge (Book Thrower). It was a sad death, 50% player error and 50% terrible graphical design.

This character used Immortal Call to avoid physical damage entirely, a combination of enough increased skill duration and echo on the enduring cry gem makes it rather easy to get good seconds of IC.

Player Error as you may have expected, I died during a really small period while Immortal Call was down, I "could've" prevented it if I had paid more attention, that's it; now comes the interesting part...

Terrible Buff/Debuff Interface, I was playing in a 6 man party, and we had pretty much every aura in the game. This makes it extremely difficult to keep track of EC/IC timers, for when someone moves in your range, your buff/debuffs bar is altered and thus the timers go left and right, really hard to focus on catching those timers and watching your health orb at the same time, it throws me off so easily. And it's even worse when the timers go so far right that they are BLOCKED by the mob's HP bar you are targeting, in this case, a boss with a rather large health bar.

Solution: Literally "fix" the positions of buffs/debuffs/skill effects in this game, and add options to them. A fixed order like: Charges -> Skill/flask effects -> debuffs -> buffs is probably the most logical one (IMO you should be able to set the priority yourself), for your don't really care what auras everybody else is running.

Also give the option to deactivate some entirely, I already know what auras I am running, and I don't care what auras I am getting from other players.

This should make a clearer interface

I totally agree with you that the buff/debuff bar is a mess. Especially in large parties. This has been brought up several times. If I recall correctly it is on their TODO list but is not so easy to implement due to the way the whole thing is coded.

Thanks for your input.

Well, at least hiding friendly and own auras can't be so hard, can it?
I must admit on a few builds requiring me to look there a lot I did die. its prob the worst place to put the debuff's that the worst idea to make it a huge ass line lol, i should not have to "glance" at the top of my screen were no action happens to make sure im all ok with buffs, people have been begging since closed beta for a new debuff buff display system, but ggg does not seem to care about it its a minor thing that only a "few" complain about. if people want this to change they need to stop accepting how badly placed the debuff bars are lol that simple, but alot of people just rant to there friends about it and endure instead of giving feedback about it on forums! :3

+1 for new debuff layout.
hit me up @sarrow lets have fun :D
+1 for this thread--- something i would like is more recognisable debuffs -- maybe Letters instead of weird pictures to show which de-buff we're suffering from.

also agreed that when in a party do we really need to know which auras are being applied- its not that crucial and could be shrunk or moved somewhere else-- or simply let us toggle it on or off.
Thanks for the positive comments guys, bump
Also agree.
shameless bump
+100
Agreed

I'd like to see debuffs next to (or on top of) my health globe. The buffs don't matter much, but in a bad fight, health and ailment status is what I need to see.
May your maps be bountiful, exile
