The case against Eternal Orbs and the benefits of removing them

I agree that eternals are unhealthy for the game, but not for the reason you do.

Without eternals failed exalt projects might get thrown in a shop and better gear becomes available for buyers at cheaper prices. You get more awesome 3, 4, and 5 stat gear pieces on the market, none being perfect, but creating nice tiers of progression.

I don't like mirrors because I believe that if someone crafts or finds something they should have to make the hard decision of either using it themselves or selling it, with mirrors you can do both. I know with a large amount of wealth you could craft two of the same item, but they wouldn't truly be the same and you'd have to deal with another round of RNG.

Also I'm a fan of exalt drop rate being a bit higher if eternals and mirrors are gone.
Ok so let's say you remove eternals. What will the super rich do that currently craft with hundreds of exalts and eternals? My guess is they would acquire mass chaos orbs. By dropping tons of chaos and occasional exalts they still get their 6 t1 items eventually. It may take longer and a bit more wealth but eventually RNG goes your way. So what happens? The items still get made, if mirrors still exist they get mirrored. If no mirrors then they'd sell for crazy high prices. Rather than competing for exalts and eternals like they do now the rich compete for and hoard chaos. Would the economy really be better off?

I'm not being hypocritical. I don't think they should exist. Just not for the the reasons you listed. Which has to do with reasons based on the economy, which I don't care about.

this would take years. and if people are sinking chaos that much, people will even be alching white items as alchs are cheaper. if people are constantly alching stuff, that's good.

i think the playerbase finally managing to collectively create entire sets of perfect gears would be a good indicator that it's time to increase the max affixes again.

power creep is like inflation. too much is bad, and so is too little.

but certainly raising the caps on things every few years would be an appropriate speed.

we'd hit ilvl 99 mods some time by 2060. lol.

as opposed to like....2 days after a new affix tier is released, the playerbase crafts a bunch of perfect shit. is that really appropriate?

as long as some sort of reasonable exalt sink was implemented, absolutely.

it's easy for your average joe to get chaos drops. not so easy for your average joe to get exalt drops.

a chaos-based economy is better for literally everybody except the super-rich.

why are you trolling me? 2) only tangentially has to do with the economy -- the main concern being that eternals are fucking useless unless you have shitloads of them. this should be a relevant concern whether or not you give a shit about the economy.

why don't you actually add something to the fucking discussion?

what reasons do YOU think eternals should be removed for?

i think you are just disagreeing for the sake of disagreement. if you had anything even remotely useful or interesting to add, you would have added it already.

I'm not sure what kind of wealth you've established in this game, but Eternals, Mirrors and "crafting" are all rich people problems. Your average player isn't doing it outside of base progression recipes. I feel like I'm playing an entirely different game, as I've never had, nor do I anticipate ever having "a couple hundred eternals" to throw at an item.

I also find it strange you would start with Eternals rather than Mirrors. Eternals seem like a band-aid concession to make up for the RNG-hell inspired gamble system. If they actually dropped more often, normal people might be tempted to craft. Mirrors, on the other hand, were the greatest boon to RMTers and their ilk.

Your wrong if you think things don't affect you because you don't participate in them. OR because they don't directly affect you

Do you think 100% solar powered islands in the pacific shouldn't care about global warming while they slowly drown?

I've noticed that he does that from time to time.

It does bring forth every aspect of ones opinion, though.

EXILES EVERYWHERE, PLEASE?!?!?!
You found my prior post about said orbs which sums it up. I don't like eternals because of power creep. Not because they make my use of exalts any less meaningful (they dont), not because some other player can use them I can't (don't care).

I don't like them because of power creep. Plain and simple.

Then you should hate every unique that came after Lionseye Glare remake.

Every unique.....

Oh, you mean the recent offenders? I *dislike* quite a few. Well, what 10(?).
I doubt GGG will get rid of Eternal Orbs, but they, among other reasons, are why I no longer play POE.
