[1.2.] Serge's Ultimate Ball Lightning (3 Versions: EB-MoM-AA / hybrid HP-ES Crit / CI Crit!)

Finally went and respeced my EB/MoM/AA witch on standard. As level 85, the build might have even a bit too much mana regen, lol. A total of 4k mana, 1.5k left after auras, 406 mana regen... 4.2k life. Clear speed is lovely in a 5L.

Will make a short VOD of that build soon. CI a bit later (when I get all the gear in Rampage).

You mean the added spell damage? Or just the explosion proc? Presumably the former though that makes less sense.

Dmilitz, Ive tested this in EE maps (i assume these work exactly as EE keystone)

and unfortunately the result is

Resists Cold
Resists Lightning
Vulnerable to Fire

sadly, just as expected

what CAN and probably differs is the 'shatter' AOE damage. This i EXPECT to work 'last' and it might in fact trigger Vulnerable to Lightnint/Fire, however it is too unreliable to be relied on it (IMO ofc)

You're correct, I just did some extra research myself, I did not realize it could apply to more element at a time :( poop!

Divinarius is SOOO good for the crit build! Spell damage, crit chance, mana gain, and AoE - everything we can use. Enjoying a 4L BL with it already, at 33% crit chance no with NO power charges up. Other gear is nothing special.

I respecced my very old character into crit ball lightning and so far have been facerolling everything. It is lowlife though, with pretty expensive items all over. Using ice herald too. Feels very satisfying even with 20/0 ball lightning and 17/0 herald of ice. Tried using it with CI too and it was fine, not as much as lowlife but viable.

Links are ball lightning - life leech - increased critical damage - spell echo - faster casting - lightning penetration

Assasin's mark for power charges or power charge on critical support gem instead of incr crit damage for curse immune maps.

Not using knockback it takes up a gem slot and is barely needed when everything can't even get close. Knockback is also not party friendly. Was able to outleech Palace Dominus ranged attack with current spec, not using Acuitys. I believe some of you guys overlook crit. This skill desperately needs crit, or otherwise it is no better than incinerate, actually worse. The skill might still need some buff, if not in damage then in AOE or firing rate of each orb. As of now it is very demanding. It needs crit, and cast speed, and AOE, and some added damage sources, and more supports than it is possible to have in a 6l.

@mammoth: I agree about knockback, waste of a slot better spent on more damage or life leech. I disagree with it being super demanding. It scales off of lots of stuff which is awesome, but doesn't really require it all to be good.

I posted knockback only in the EB MoM build, not the crit build. For the crit it is absolutely pointless, of course. For the non-crit, it is pretty good. I do believe, however, that for a 6L, faster casting is better, and will probably change that in the EB MoM build.

I do not know why you use life leech if you can get life leech on gear (not only uniques, but also from lvl6 catarina). Imo, that is a waste of a slot.

I also disagree it is demanding or needs more buffs. An additional buff would make BL just outright unbalanced in the OP direction. There's a difference between benefiting from all the things you mentioned, and requiring those things to make the skill viable. The former means the skill is versatile and can be done in various ways, the latter that it is underpowered, which BL is not, definitely not after the 1.2. buff.

No you don't. It's a big bonus but definitely not required, especially since you can craft lightning leech onto gear now.
