An Mfer's log with Dominus
I'll post my findings for statistical reference for Dominus runs, by the 20's per day.
My iir/iiq is currently at 157/441 I am a summoner build, I use zombies and spectres for dps and an arc spell to cull. These are solo runs, so no bonus IIQ per extra party member is included. I do not advise MFers to solo run Dominus unless their xp is at 0%. My gear is as follows

Could you also please mark the items with green color that would have dropped anyway,
even with Zero IIR/IIQ and the ones with red that would have never dropped without MFgear. Else your thread could create a false impression again, in the devs heads. Thanks. +VLFBERHT+

What is the purpose of posting threads that announce that you will post something of substance a week or two later?

Lachdanan, I have no idea what you said, so no.
Mivo, it's called statistical contribution. Last edited by DeadeyeGr#5801 on May 17, 2014, 9:16:54 AM

Mind also posting what you got in terms of currency? Both in drops and in Chaos recipes.

Wow..looks like waste of time :(

Wow seems like I'm not the only one who get 99% crappy unique. Glad I dont run MF too depressing. RoP is only thing there over 1ex if im not mistaken.

" 50% of them can be sold, and rest can be made into chance recipe. How is that "crappy"? Oh, correct, people consider unique as "good" if it only sells for 2ex+. on-topic: You lack two things: a) how long takes 1 run; b) gained currency in those runs; b1) vendoring; b2) chaos recipe. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.
To answer some questions, I'm not posting currency drops unless I get something worth posting. Such as, anything above a divine orb. I won't bother linking every chromatic, chaos, vaal orb I get. I consider such currency items to be much more easily obtainable through regular leveling. You'll get more orbs to drop through the run itself than the final Dominus battle, which is very telling for what to do when hunting for pure currency. Packs of mobs > Boss Chaos recipes are really hard to keep track on. I store rings, amulets and belts from every activity in PoE, so I can't accurately tell how many chaos recipe items I got just from Dominus farms. If I had to give an approximate estimation, I'd say I get around 5 chaos recipes from every 20 runs, which amounts to 10c. I don't bother picking up rare drops for vendoring unless they're part of a chaos recipe, chromatic recipe or jeweler recipe. Vendoring rares will cost time, subtracted from the farming itself. More runs = better profit. I do vendor the uniques though, because I have to pick them up anyway for linking in the forums. Average run time, WITH the battle is around 3-4 minutes. I finish a group of 20 runs in an hour, or so. My experience after some months of MFing. So far the runs don't seem to be very rewarding, apart from the Rise of Phoenix shield that costs around 3 exalted with these rolls. But if you wish to make some currency, I don't see so far a faster way. Mapping offers the same chances (with added IIQ on map), but reaching the boss for that gg drop is by itself a big hassle. Plus, you have to earn the map somehow. Farming Dominus is freely accessible and tons easier to repeat. If you want bigger and better drops, you can try farming Dominus with a full party. However you'll have to also share that loot with the big party, so who wins the drop is a whole new roll that you'll have to win. This is a loner's guide, mostly. I think a lot of people overrate the Dominus farm, probably through the stories they've heard that circulate so easily. A friend dropped a Soultaker yesterday and just last week he dropped a Crown of Eyes. Wow, why isn't that happening to me too? It most probably won't. Someone somewhere in the world will also win a lottery today, doesn't mean the whole world got luckier. Don't expect to see a Shav's drop from Dominus before you drop a whole other load of loot worth as much as the Shav itself. So be patient, keep collecting all those 1-10ex uniques and you'll buy your end game gear sooner or later. And while doing it, you might get super lucky and drop that gg unique you dreamt of. Just don't count on it, don't go looking for a Shav's in a pile of loot each time you cut down Dominus. Let it come when it will, if ever. |
