Hi Victordoom, Thanks for the build! Looks Awesome!

After trying your build on my Templar, I must say it works great; but I just cannot stand the appearance of the Character.

So I made a Ranger build which follows your ideas, but with more focus on life and using Blood Magic. I haven't actually try this but I think it would work.

I would not go BM with this build(also this build uses elemental damage so nodes that offer physical damage are not useful), the reason for this is that you can not use auras like vitality or purity when you need them, and auras in OB reserve a lot of mana, so you would lose quite some life for basically for nothing.

Blood magic does not bring any advantage to this build, because it already uses a mana leech gem, paired with concentrated effect and the mana regeneration nodes that i have taken with the templar you have NO mana problems at all.

If you are interested in doing this build but with a different class i suggest you use a shadow, that is the class where this build originated from in closed beta.

This would be the shadow version of this build:Passive skill tree build

It has less life than the templar but more damage, more attack speed and 32% chaos resistance just from nodes, it is pretty good and i bet it would work.

Thanks VictorDoom for the shadow build, I will look into it.

One Reason I use BM is the end game map. Conditions like 'cannot use life or mana regeneration' or 'use blood magic', or something similar could bring some trouble and therefore having BM can be an advantage. But I agree that lacking mana affects the use of auras, which does bring quite a lot of benefits, is a major downside.

Dont worry about the no regen maps, with mana leech gem you only need to hit enemies and you will be at full mana always, i dont even use a mana flask with this build.

As for BM maps, just swap out mana leech with something else that might be useful so its not a wasted link and turn off % auras before hand, you can do those maps pretty easily too.

Hey,

Solid build, been a breeze so far (cruel act 2), would like a few pointers and the thought process behind some choices though.

1) Why swords? - aren't the + accuracy and crit chance wasted stats? Game kept de-syncing when I tried out Whirling Blades (getting me killed in the process, /ragemodeon it's worth mentioning that those were the ONLY 2 times I managed to get killed so far, both thanks to this god damn skill /ragemodeoff) so I simply skipped it.

2) Weapon speed - I'm not too familiar with the game's mechanics (been playing for 3-4 days), I'm thinking slower = better since 90% of the time you have to position yourself and cleave once -> stutter step -> cleave -> stutter step rinse and repeat, so wouldn't a slower heavy hitter make more sense? I understand the majority (if not all) of the dps comes from the elemental damage portion so perhaps you simply can't get a higher +ele dmg mod from a slower hitting weapon hence faster > slower.

3) When to switch from a 2 hander to dual wield? - A 2-hander just seems a lot easier to keep up to date, currently lvl 45 and still haven't managed to get 2 decent 1-handed weapons, is the dps output from dual wield worth the time & effort/cost to keep them up to date?

4) Soul Siphon - It's 7 points away from your layout and opens up the possibility for a 5 point investment for a +40 int / +12% aoe radius and opens up the gem slot of mana steal for more damage (added fire damage comes to mind). On the other hand, it would be semi-useless vs boss-like conditions (no trash adds to get mana from and increased cleave cost due to the extra gem so it might even force a mana flask slot). Thoughts?

That's all I could think of for the time being, thumbs up for the music as well :D

1)You need swords or axes so you can use cleave.

2)attack speed scales extremely well with elemental damage.

3)Auras and all flat elemental mods on gear apply to both weapons when dual weilding, thus resulting in way more elemental damage.

4)You have mana leech, no reason to use soul siphon, and it wont open up a slot for mana leech especially with maps that have the "no regen mod", i just wouldnt use the mana on kill thing, too many points for a not very sustainable mana in my opinion.

Also you can use leap slam instead of whirling blades if you dont like that skill!

Here you go for some dex nodes wherever you can and you can start using swords/axes with elemental damage.
Build at around level 40:Passive skill tree build

_______________

But you don't take any Dex nodes in your build at this point?
Can you avoid all the Dex nodes cause of your equip, or am i missing something

yes, i dont need them at this point because of my equipment and the dex requirement of the swords i use.

Awesome build right there! 2 questions tho:

1. Could you please update your current gear? (you have 114 DEX atm, and your weapon requires more?)

2. What do you do when you encounter elemental resist mobs? Switch to 2 hander? or something else? (i find it quite difficult to kill high hp and hard hitting mobs with elemental resists)

Kind regards,
Aurell

1) if you look at the gear you can see i have 38 dex on my amulet and and 24 dex on my gloves, that saves me 2 passives in dex nodes right there.

2)For elemental reflects, either try to agro the lesser mobs away, or just hit the mobs while you have a rejuvenation totem near you while poping flasks this usualy keeps you safe.

OR my favorite method: use conversion trap on the rare that has the aura, kill everything around it while its converted then kill it with ease since you only reflect from 1 enemy :D

EDIT: just realized you wrote elemental RESISTS XD, just use elemental weakness or conductivity on them, you bypass their increases resistances easily with one of those curses.

But i guess the tip against reflect might be of use too, so no reason to delete it :)

Victor, builds amazing. It's so straightforward and the reliability of your gear being low really pays off. Can't wait to get wake of destruction boots to get some more DPS.

Thanks for the reply victor! Good points out there :)
