[1.3] Blood Line / Torment Dual strike. Strike your way through maps Beginner Friendly

IIRC, resolute techniques increases tooltip dps way more than real dps, since it's based on monsters your level. Also, you're wasting the blind on your helm by taking iron reflexes.

Try this build: http://poebuilder.com/#character/AAAAAgQAAecDhwR-BLEFLQW1DPIQ8BQgFfAYTRiRGtsbrR3KIWAj9iSbJd8mlScvKNsshTBxMHw0kzY9Nug6QjpYPs9AoEF0ROdHfkp9S3hMYE4qUEdRR1RJVUtW-loaWkhbr18_YEth4mNwZU1ngGegbXtuaXBydO108XYreEl67311fyuAioN8hNmHGYd2h9uMNo19jb-QCpP8lWaZK565pKyly6cwqAeqf6q4q8Wuz6-itUi2QbyfvYG95r6nwQTGotN-1CPWit0N3ajf7-Of53TrFOuO7g7vDu9O7-Pv8PIv9035Y_zF_ro=

with blood dance boots, hatred/purity of elements/purity of lightning, and lightning coil. You can use blood rage (cast or CWDT) for frenzy charges, or you could use a 4L frenzy.

It's basically what I'm running, but I'm using frenzy as the main attack and dropped 4L dual strike for a linked vaal cyclone, although I'm debating switching it up to 4L frenzy and 5L dual strike.

Also, I run axe/sword so I can use whirling blades, and I get a little sword bonus on two of my life nodes. Whirling blades is just so damn good, especially when paired with such high life regen, because by the time you've moved out of harm's way you've regen'd a considerably chunk of HP.

At 10+ aps, your tiny crit chance adds up to some serious flask regen with surgeon's flasks.

as far as what you are telling, i don't entirely get it. First of all how am i "wasting" blind? as far as i know i don't have unwavering stance which still makes me able to evade attacks.

Resolute Technique is definitly the way to go since you won't be taking any crit and axes and swords have low base crit so its useless. your chance to hit will dramaticly decrease as you lvl up, meaning if you will hit lvl 90 you will have around 70-80% chance to hit. That is a huge dps decrease.

And we don't need a lightning coil at all because we are using a BoR, this is much cheaper and it gives 15% chance to block, further on we have a 5 second immortal call on CwDT so physical damage is no problem at all.

i don't see the point of using blood dance boots, because we need a way to negotiate elemental damage. Atziri's step are way better for them and they give life. Your life regen will be more then enough with life leech. Grabbing a sword isnt of much use because there are alot more axe nodes also keep in mind axes have higher base damage because they have no implicit.

Your tooltip "chance to hit" ist based on monsters that don't exist. At Level 50, it compares your Accuracy to some average level 50 monsters Evasion, that's somewhat reasonable, but at Level 90, it does the same, however there are no Lvl 90 monsters in the game, so the comparison is useless.

Even if you have only "80% chance to hit" in your character screen, you will still hit like 95% of your attacks while playing, even in Lvl 78 maps.

That's what jbmcarth is referring to, RT looks better than it is, as the Chance to hit looks worse than it is.

---

With only a 20q Dualstrike gem, no crit nodes or crit gear whatsoever, and with somehow achieving 90% chance to hit:
10% hits miss
81% normal hits with 100% base damage
9% Crit with 150% base damage (9% <- 5% +80%gem)
->81 + 9*1.5 = 94.5% base damage.
You're already pretty close to the 100% of RT.

If you only add something like 30% crit multi on your amulet and wear a Diamond ring, you already get:
10% hits miss
79% normal hits
11% crit with 1.95 multi
-> 79 + 11*1.95 = 100.45%, already on par with RT.
But saved quite some skillpoints.

And this is just based on "90% to hit", based on the unrealistic number that will show up in your Char Screen.

---

In my humble opinion, RT is a little overused.
Yes, it solves the "Accuracy Issue", but as a Ranger, there isn't an Accuracy Issue in the first place. You are Dex-based, you walk half your path on Dex-Nodes, and with minimal Accuracy on Gear, you will hit monsters all day.

thank you for the clear explanition, but i still favour Resolute technique. First of all enfeelble maps, then second enemy's that blind you, even some exiles blind. as leech is the main source of lige regeneration we don't want to be missing attacks constantly.

Referring to the above conversation, grabbing RT is a must because axes do not have any accuracy built into the weapon like swords do. Rather than wasting passives/gearmods for accuracy, just grab RT.

I wanted to chime with my DW Ranger build that's pretty much the same thing. I go about my tree slightly differently, with some other differences.

Skilltree @ lvl 87 with Oak Normal quest reward

Planned skilltree @ lvl 100 w/ Normal & Cruel Oak quest rewards

Gear:
Spoiler

Key facts:
- 31k DualStrike DPS with Msplash, 34k without
- 5.8k life (5773 rounded)
- 300~ life regen per second
- 9.5k armor @ 47% phys dmg reduction
- 76 all rez

I would like to use the Atziri's Slink Boots, but I'll need to buy a new ammy for that, so that won't be til later. I also plan on getting a legacy BoR, so that 5.8k figure will shoot up to 6k-6.1k life.
_____

I will suggest a few things:
1. The Ambidexterity notable is not worth grabbing because you're effectively getting 8% inc DW dmg and 1.33% inc DW speed per point. (3 point path)
2. The Cleaving cluster is unecessary and can be put to better use.
3. You don't need the Beef notable (+30 str).

The 4 points for Cleaving can be put into the cluster with Deadly precision, gaining +10 str, 24% 1handed phys dmg, 12% life, and 3% inc AS with 1handed weapons.

The 3 points for Ambidexterity can used to grab either Born to Fight notable (20% melee phys dmg, +20 str, and 20% 1handed phys dmg) OR finish the Duelist left starter-tree highway (1% life regen, 27% melee phys dmg, +12 flat life).

The Beef notable can be put into the 20% Enemy Critical Strike Multiplier Reduction node that's right next to the Diamond Skin notable.

The resulting changes will make a tankier DWing Ranger that only the toughest spell bosses will give trouble. (also chaos alchemists... those things hurt without any chaos rez)

Thank you for the suggestions, i realised picking up ambidexterity wasn't the most effient.

there might be slightly more effiecient trees out there, but i wanted to give player's a tree to follow but not copy it 100%.
you are free as much as you want to pick up extra res, health or more damage. i didn't need to take extra health since i was able to do all maps and all map mods and atziri, and i picked the beef node to fill a point while still gaining a bit of damage and health. Altough i think this build isn't capable doing Uber atziri without some major modifications.

Hi, nice guide! I'm lvl 68 now, using this guide :) (ambush)
Hi,i am playing this nice build on ambush.

Recently just hit 90.

Today i lost to A'alai,Q'ura and Y'ara'az.

I am thinking change BoR to helmet and body armor for defeating atziri, because i can get more Life and resi.

Can i tell me how to defeating atziri and her gurdians?
self cast immortal call with increased duration and enduring cry should solve everything :)
