POE resource management woes
|
you are supposed to link blood magic in with that build.
during low levels you pick up EB so you get high mana at low levels. Eventually you will get a lot of life once you make it towards the marauder and templar tree thus letting you use blood magic fairly easy while still keeping your mana for only auras. Soulutions: 1: link blood magic. 2: get EB Note: if you get EB you will be extremely weak cause you wont have energy shield or armor. i suggest you reroll |

I think Guild Wars 2 had the right idea. Mana systems were only ever chastity belts to deny people fun. Remember how it was in Diablo 2? It made the game boring, painful shit until later in the game when it ceased to matter at all?
A lot of people here seem to want a similar progression. ie, drink the blue syrup in the early game, then have no problems whatsoever in the late game. But in that case, why have it in the first place. People play in spite of the mana system, not because of it. I guess you can boost the default regeneration to a speedier 30-40 seconds to full... and reduce the cost of spells. |

anubite, you know my feelings on mana.
This is a problem that could have been avoided too. It's bad currently it's only going to get worse if the best solution to nerfing skills is to make them cost more. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

When I started playing, there were no auras. Ever since their addition, they've been seen as more and more necessary, and the trend has been to stack more and more of them. Base mana costs for skills have risen, but not nearly as fast as the mana cost multipliers on new supports.
There are many ways to solve mana. Off the top of my head: - Reduce the mana cost multiplier of many supports while equally reducing the power they provide. - Provide more flat mana regeneration sources. - Add drawbacks to using more than X auras. - Make the reduced skill cost points more efficient. I would like to see the issue addressed more in the future, as "BM or EB" is incredibly build limiting. |

pneuma, I see the aura problem as a result of the mana problem. Because people need such large mana pools for even mana leech to work properly, the thought is why not just throw auras on that dead space. If mana regen was higher, making max pool smaller, using alot of auras would be unnecessary and something one would have to be seeking to do.
At the current way mana is going I don't think making regen 110% rather than 105% would make mana mindless. But the higher the max mana has to be the more appealing free auras seem. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

Well, besides that, "stack every aura" is incredibly uninteresting.
Characters that are and do everything are uninteresting. Limiting the number of auras is better as a build-diversity solution than a mana-sucks solution, though it applies to both. |

BM need to change big time. Like Anubite said we need stamina for attackers, mana for spell casters even we need both of them for hybrid builds. Hording Hp and regen and linking your main skill with BM gem allows u to open 2-3 percentage base auras which is OP as hell.
People have their points when they complain about BM it supposed to help the attack base characters to sustain their high speed attacks. EK and FP maras made that keystone overpowered it wasnt like that when back at CB. I dont like global mana and i dont like the BM gem + aura stacking we need changes. |

" I think when everyone can do it, it blows. When it's hard to do, it becomes interesting. I remember my duelist from back in like August that had 4 auras on mana and 3 on BM gems (before when you could have auras on weapon swap), most people just hadn't seen a build with so many auras on it. A good and well written post, anubite.
I think this is a very important aspect of the game that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. I've talked about resource management in closed beta before, and what could possibly happen, and did happen. But I've been shut down by people saying it's fine. (I told you so! - There, i got it out of my system) I agree with Moosifer though, Auras are fun, but they are adding to the resource management issue and vice versa. There are some really good solutions to this problem in this thread already. Not to mention in many other threads. I hope GGG are paying close attention to this. My Supporter Pack list compensates for my small penis.
