Cut Throat Feel: Looting Tips & Tricks

It's not your loot until it hits your inventory.

Welcome to Wraeclast, exile.

Thanks for the loot.

They were criminal in a society where corruption and nepotism were pretty much the norm. I will concede that they were often self-serving but to paint the ninja as nothing more than a thief is a gross misrepresentation.

Sorry, is this too much history? I'm a huge fan of ninja movies too. Especially that one with the turtles and the pizza...

I was actually more concerned with 'griefer'. If you're going to enjoy this style of play, it should be less about causing others 'grief' and more about, again, 'self-serving'.

Let the grief be a sad but necessary byproduct of your self-serving actions. :)

Technically if griefing brings the griefer entertainment, it is indeed self-serving. :P
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

I don't want to deny, to myself or anyone else, that the grief of the victims is indeed part of the thrill. I mean, who truly does not enjoy seeing the loser of a competition squeal and cry? Oh we might pretend to be civilized and put a nice sympathetic face on, but deep down inside we're laughing our rear ends off.

Of course, you get it. So how do you spot and grab the best stuff before anyone else?

Well, first off I usually party with my friends so we share the loot that drops because that's what friends do.

However... When I party with random strangers and no-one really cares about each other because they'll never see each other again, rules regarding 'fairness' do not apply.

Like the winds of Wraeclast rip across your skin while traversing the ledge, I rip across the battlefield snatching up loot like a whirling dervish of yellow and brown.

My biggest tip to anyone would be to keep your eyes open! Focus on the game. Don't relax and get lazy - thats when you lose loot! It can get tiresome constantly clicking and staring at the same old things and thats why this loot system keeps things fresh and keeps you focused.

You really do have to be focused on your main goal when you're in a party full of strangers and that is XP and loot.

You aren't there to make friends exile. Realize this and thrive!

I think your last line is the most important thing for every new player to understand.

Thanks for the tips!

You're very welcome. Once people realize they aren't entitled to the loot and they must earn it with their speed and reflexes, then we won't have so much whining!

Earn your loot exiles.
Hey.
Personally i prefer the shadowninja approach.
What does that mean?
If you are in a big party like 5 or 6 exiles, you really want to hide your true face!
There will always be this one guy who will grab all the shiny loot. W/e. we dont care about this Groundslam gem designated to someone else. We wantz the nice lootz!
Bonuspoint here: You can always blame this guy for stealing loot :D This way you look more friendly!
Earn trust! If u see something not worthy to steal, just run past it.
Big Lootz: Unique drops. holy shit. This is mine. Rush it, block it, grab it. Blame soemone else. "Nice steal, gz" :D
Big battles. As statet by the OP, try to do some dmg, but you want to be prepared and in range of the lootz. So your mainfocus should be survivability!Let the others kill stuff u wantz the lootz! Use skills like leap to get close to the lootz. Stay near the bad guy, who you blamed earlier! Run of to heast during battles. Everthing thats distracting others to get thier loot is your chance for a nice steal!

I have to disagree with OP on the preferd class. You want to be up front. So melee class should be the way to go.And you want to be tanky as fuck. Can't ninja if you are dead!

Eventually u ninjad enough lootz to get real stronk. Now you can change yout tactics a little bit. Just run offscreen and kill stuff on your own. Fuck your party. All the lootz is mine.

Good hunting

I've decided to quit complaining and embrace the vision. In this thread I'd like to see tips and tricks on how to be more effective in creating and maintaining the 'cut throat' feel by becoming a better ninja griefer in public parties.

Newcomers to Path of Exile should be aware that this play style is fully supported by the devs, indeed according to various posts and interviews, this is what they intended from the start and what they want. So, how to be better at it?

i know a better solution...i will pay for the pickit bot that soon will be released and i will never buy anything from the company itself...problem fixed for me
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself
