I just finished the 79 point tree and I'm wondering where I should go first? I'm not capped on fire and lightning yet but cold is good for merc difficulty. I'd like to increase my damage but my weapon is the best I can seem to find.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I'd actually like to know when you pick up Iron Reflexes and Unwavering Stance! I've only got RT as of right now.

EDITEDIT: Also I've planned 64 and 65 to be towards getting Amplify since I'm using Ice Crash so hopefully that increased area damage does a great deal. :) After that I assume I get unwavering stance then go towards testudo but I'd love to hear what you think before I proceed!

Dude, your weapon is horrible! The weapon you're using isn't good for cruel even, let alone merciless. You need a pure physical damage weapon, I can guarantee you that you can find a ton of better ones using this trading site: http://poe.trade/

You don't need Iron Reflexes if you take pure armour gear. It's a waste of 3 passive points. But if you can't buy good pure armour gear, than it's an ok temporary investment. Take unwavering stance in act3 or 4 in merc.

Also, don't play merciless without maxing out your resistance, especially if you're playing in a hardcore league, as you will most surely die.

OK so what am I missing here. Using infernal blow in a 5L chest. Single target damage is a joke. How do you cope with that?

You probably have a crap weapon and/or gear and/or are low level and/or have a bad passive tree. Without linking your gear to me and your passive tree, I can't answer your question.

Using this passive tree: Passive skill tree build

With this gear (which I don't think (?) is shit)?

Ahah I knooow! I'm not sure what rolls to look out for because this is the highest level I've gotten in some time...

And thank you for letting me know when to take those! I was a little confused from the 79 tree to your updated 2.1 tree. I'll let you know how it goes :D

EDIT: You were right. My ice crash just went up 1.2k unbuffed.

New weapon!

And new chest! (I'm 4Ling my Ice Crash in my boots for now since Blue sockets are the death of me)

Yeah, now I can tell what your problem is :) not sure if you're new to the game, but one of the primary support gems for physical melee builds is "Melee Physical Damage", which you are not using in your 5L. I'd recommend swapping it with Faster Attacks until you get a 6L.

Glad I could help :)

P.S. Use Vagan's crafting bench to craft attack speed on that weapon for even more DPS.

Great, thanks! Not familiar with melee builds. Will try it later.

I am currently using this as a general guide/starting point for my facebreaker infernal blow build on hc talisman. I won't be getting any of the one hand weapon nodes. And will be trying to get more block from the tree along with more hp. Depending on my dps once I get to mapping level I may tinker around with the melee damage nodes depending on my dps at the time. Since gear will be mediocre when I get to merciless that is why I am grabbing the block nodes and life nodes. Staying alive is my number one key atm. Slow kills are fine with me until I can get good gear and fine tune my tree. This is my first melee build ever so being very cautious. Only level 45 but chugging along.

Your plan seems fine to me, just don't forget maxing out your res. Since you won't be going for the dps nodes, I would strongly recommend consider getting the new leech node below duelist to boost your survivability even more, especially since they apply to ALL damage instead of just physical. If you do that, you can also ditch blashpemy+warlord's mark and use arctic armour for even more tankiness. In which case, the only thing that could ever kill you would be 1-hit deaths, like vaal smash or dominus touch of god.

Yup that is part of my plan. I will probably still self cast warlords here and there if the situation requires it. I think I should be able to get a lot more health using facebreakers. I have a good amount of currency already so far, but trying to save it until map time so I can get some pretty good gear then. Right now I am just using items I find. And since I have 55% block and 70% phys dmg reduced without fort on and max all res 2300 health in a2 cruel I think I should be fine with most of the gear I have no until maps. I didn't even grab many health nodes yet since I went to all block nodes thus far.

Debating if I am going to use the frenzy charges depending on how well I clear. I am still using searing bond and firestorm thus far as it still rapes pretty well and I can just sit in the middle of packs and basically take no damage at all, and my counter attacks linked to LGOH keep me at full health really easily thus far. I know the real challenge begins in merciless. But if searing bond can get me through merciless i may just do that. I love how searing bond is build it 2 totems now, so I can use 2 searing bond, or 1 searing bond and a light warp totem now without ancestral bond. Was thinking of going with 1 searing bond totem, and 1 righteous fire totem tomorrow to see how that works for leveling also.
One question. How do we manage to keep Herald of Ash, with hatred(determination) and blasphemy warlords mark.?
