Can't apply 2nd suffix to piece of gear
" Terminology Affix is another term for mods, that both Prefix and Suffix are part off Prefix is an Affix, on magic its the First word Suffix is an Affix, on magic its the Last Word Affix is either or. Magic Item can have 1 prefix and 1 suffix, not 2 suffix, not 2 prefix. Diablo 2 was like that, can't remember, but pretty sure Diablo is like that too. D3 is like that, and probably quite a few other ARPG Pretty simple to understand. If you want 2 suffix or more, your item need to be rare. No your magic amulet didn't have 2 suffix. If you mean Cold Resist on sapphire ring, thats not an affix/suffix/prefix, its a stat present on the base Normal Item (White) called Implicit property. Those are present not only on ring and amulet, but armor and weapon have em too. Ex: Last edited by Blackened#2066 on Feb 2, 2013, 8:26:44 AM

"So let me get this straight, the Blue text that is in it's own bracket at the top of the list is an implicit stat/mod? The stuff below (outside) that top bracket are stats granted by making the item magical/rare etc.? If that is correct then thank you, I finally have an understanding of how the loot labels work regarding this conundrum and why some items listed more stats then they should have (According to what I knew at the time). I have been treating the blue stats in the top bracket as Affix and that items were limited to only one per item, and up to 2 suffix per item. That is clearly a wrong (but reasonable) assumption I have made. " Yes, you're correct. Implicit property is "surrounded" by the lines above and below it (once you've made it magic or better, that is). For example, on Coral Rings implicit property is the +hp. On resist rings, it's the +resist and so on. For further information, go to Game -> Items link on the forums, you'll find out all affixes and suffixes any item can have - it's a magnificent resource when it comes to whether you want to add mods to an item or not. :-) Are you shpongled yet? yesss thanks everyone for putting up with me on this issue lol, we all got there in the end. Also this knowledge has helped me understand the affix/suffix system too for example:
With an item that has a "+10 Increased Cold Damage" stat, the affix is "Increased" and the suffix is "Cold" Damage right? " No no, you got it wrong: "x Increased cold damage" is a prefix as mentioned in http://www.pathofexile.com/item-data/prefixmod. For example, an item called: Frosted Crude Bow of Skill would mean you have an item that has +1-2 Cold Damage and 5-7% attack speed. "Frosted" (affix) is the +1-2 cold damage and "of Skill" (suffix) is the +5-7% attack speed in this example of mine. I'm sorry if this is still confusing you, but I just can't think a better way to explain it atm, I'm slightly drunk so... ;-P My only suggestion is, that you check the "Game -> Items" menu on the top of the forum and then select "View all Prefixes" and "View all Suffixes". Ah so the affix/suffix is mentioned in the name of the item and is what determines the non-implicit stats?

" Yes exactly, the item's name is telling you what affixes and suffixes it contains. :-) This might seem a bit confusing when there's a rare item with 3 affixes and 3 suffixes, but yeah, that's how it works. Edit: To add on my post, I'm actually a bit clueless myself when it comes to naming rare items with 3 suffixes and 3 affixes. So I'm sorry as I can't explain this to you through and through, my understanding only goes as far as magic items are concerned. :-/ Are you shpongled yet? To make this thread "complete", could someone with the knowledge post, that how are rare items named? I mean, it seems there aren't "X's Y Z item of X Y Z" (in case of 3-prefix/3-suffix rare item) - how are these items named? I apologize if I'm missing something, which is probably pretty likely. :-D

An example item to go along with ekhowl's question:
The name of the item consists of 4 words, yet there are 6 non-implicit stats. Computer specifications:
