Can't apply 2nd suffix to piece of gear

The game is not allowing me to add a 2nd suffix to this item. The error message doesn't explain why. (It is unequipped)

It lready has 2 affixes - magic items can always have only 1 prefix and/or 1 suffix (so together 2 affixes max) - read the item name: "Magpie's" is the prefix, "of plunder" is the suffix, it has only one stat, because both affixes give the same magic stat (IIR)

Ah so it has 2 lots of Magic Find applied? it seems odd to combine the 2 stats and not show them separate. (Instead relying on the name of the item instead of the stat list.)

The name tells you there are 2 affixs, Magpie's and Plunder. There are other affixs that combine as well. Personally it makes more sense to me that it combines them instead of double listing the same type of modifier.

Yeah I see that now and I can understand why it's done, it just seems a bit odd that it is displayed differently to basically everything else. Perhaps they could make the identifying parts of the name of the item a different colour to make it stand out more?

So let me get this straight, the item has both a Affix and Suffix version of the Loot Rarity buff? Then why can I not add a 2nd Suffix? Blue items allow 2 suffixes!

How can you not get this? The magic item already has one prefix and one suffix. It has been abundantly told to you. Just cus they both grant you a bonus to the same magic stat, it ain't just one mod.
Now for rares, what if I have an item with seemingly 5 mods, but 2 of them give me the same bonus? Using an Exalted Orb, would the game tell me it already has 6 mods or would I waste it?

edit: Just realizing you're mixing up terms. The official term for an affix in PoE is "mod". There are prefixes and suffixes. Each magic item can only have 2 mods: one prefix, one suffix. That's what your item has. There can't be 2 suffixes.

the item type is: Executioner Casque
Because there is one word before it (Magpie's) and another one word after it (Plunder), the item already has 2 mods on it, one being prefix (Magpie's) and one being suffix (Plunder).
Because both Magpie's and Plunder give the same atribute which is % increase rarity of items found, it would be stupid and pointless not to stack them up (aka 8% + 12% = 20%)

The magic (blue) items can have maximum 2 mods, always 1 prefix + 1 suffix.
The rare (yellow) items can have maximum 6 mods, always 3 prefix + 3 suffix.
Don't confuse mods with stats, there are particular mods that can give 2 stats instead on 1.
If different mods give the same attribute then they will stack.

Read my latest post, the item has 1 affix and 1 suffix. I don't mind that the stats are combined. I do mind that I can not have 2 suffix.

Anyways I think I may be mistaken in thinking you can have 1 affix and 2 suffix on Magical gear. However it IS possible on amulets and rings.

Dude, trust me, in this game as it is now you cannot have more that 1 prefix + 1 suffix on any kind of magic (blue) item.
This is bulletproof.
