Crafting that sh** or buy it?

So i got this
and i need it 5 linked. I'm not sure what to do with this... Should i try to make it 6socketed and then try to 5 linked it. Or should i sell it and try to grind 3-4 more exalts and buy it 5 linked? I dont have any experience with crafting items more than 4 sockets. If i try to 5 linked I need to have 6 sockets so i have better chances with the fuses right? But i spend like 100 jeweller's orbs and i;ve seen only once 5 sockets... and im starting to think that if i keep on trying eventually i'll succeed but i'll spend more currency than just buying it for 3-4 exalts. What do you crafters think :D ?

P.S. the ilvl of the staff is 70.
Linking Searing Touches is my personal hobby:)

Always 6s it, may take crap load of jewelers may take few. I always ready myself with around 300-400. 100 for 5l should be easily doable. Also you have a chance to 6l this way:) (did it twice in domination)
Good Luck mate!
I AM MAD
ZAP!ZAP!ZAP! ME SOOO WIZZARD!
Well you gave me courage to craft it by myself :d I just hope i dont spend all my currency for nothing :D
I personally wouldn't craft this staff

both spell damage(30-50) and fire dmg(20-40) are far under average.
if you want to 5/6L it, you might aswell spend some extra chaos taking one with some better stats

other than that, be aware that crafting is risky, you don't know how much it is gonna take to get that 5L. you might end up 5 ex in fusing in without having a 5L if you are unlucky, or you can get it with the first 10.

That's the problem with crafting in PoE. It isn't crafting. It's straight up gambling, and the odds are against you. There's no way to guarantee you'll get anything in a given amount of currency invested. In 99% of the cases, you're better off financially just buying the item you want from someone else.

Sure, you could get a 5L on the second fuse, but over time, if you keep attempting to 5L items, you will average out to the established probabilities. Numbers don't lie. Case in point: I got my first 6L in about 180 fusings about a year ago. I couldn't understand why so many people were crying about horrible fusing chances -- that's until I attempted my second 6L which ended up taking 2167 fusings. My entire bank, gone. After awhile, I attempted a third 6L and got it around 1800 fusings. From then on, I only buy 6Ls. Never again will I craft my own.

I 6socketed 4armor 2bows and my searing for lowest about 40 and highest about 160jewellers.
then this piece of sh*t came my way. it took 1070jewellers to 6s...

Btw got my only 6L on a searing touch with 8fuse -.-

But i believe in more experienced ppl and will almost never ever attempt to 6L.

You resumed exactly the point. I see only 2 reasons about that "game design" choice:

1. incompetence

2. make people addict (same patterns as in casino...)
let's just put it this way. I've been playing for well over a year, for many hours each day. I haven't counted but I guarantee that I have put at least 10K fusings (a modest number, probably doulbe that) on a 6 socket. Not once has it ever 6 linked.

If you want a 5-link, do it. If you want a 6-link, risky. A decently rolled one costs around 2k fusings if you want to buy it. Do you think you can link it in under 2k fusings? Then do it. If not, rather buy it.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
