Can we stop having Vaal Orbs do nothing?

The 'do nothing' option for Vaal Orbs is bad.

It's better than a negative affect. I say keep "do nothing" in. Otherwise part of the "unpredictable" will be predictable. Namely, that it will always do something. I think it should add some sort of text though, like "Vaal Hates You" or "If RNG was an inmate you'd be its bitch". Something like that.

It's not about being better then a negative effect, it's just boring.

I want to use a vaal orb to see something happen, seeing nothing happen is boring as hell.

You rather see it destroy the item? Because that's what most do.

Honestly, yes, I'd rather see it destroy the item. It's confusing and disappointing to have nothing happen. You constantly look at the Corrupted item like ooh, what's its mod? Oh.

Nothing.
Yes, utterly destroying an item with an accompanied sound of ghostly laughter would be more interesting that no change and a pointless 'Corrupted' tag.

Indeed, I see no reason why items should be inviolable.

Nothing happening is a mix of drawback and benefit. You gambled, and you didn't lose, but you'll never be able to win with that item either.

It should stay.

But it could maybe occur less frequently. I don't know, I have a feeling the "does nothing" is a large part of the lure of using them. They'd be less accessible if they didn't have the "do nothing" outcome; that is, it's much easier to justify their use for lower-wealth players when their risk is just as likely to do nothing as it is to break the item, it makes that risk much more palatable.

The question appears to me whether Vaal Orbs should do a little something bad, a little something good, or nothing at all for middle of the road outcomes. You don't lose or win much either way, but at least the impact was felt and something happened.

Would rather have absolutely anything happen than nothing.
