5 second Ping Flatlines

It looks like the original problem might not be the router. I have a new router coming in the mail, but i suspect that won't make a difference.

What i've noticed is that every ~hour when my mini-fridge makes a sound, like it's starting up some kind of cooling thing, all my internet connections reset on my laptop. I see the icon change in my taskbar, like it goes off, then reconnects. This is where i get a 4-7 second ping flatline, as in post #1-2.

WTF? Anyone seen this kind of thing before?

Sounds like your mini-fridge is causing interference.

Not sure how old you are, but back in the day with older CRT TVs and crappy vacuums, whenever the vacuum would get turned on, it would cause all sorts of static and picture distortion on the TV. Electrical noise or interference.

Sounds like something with your fridge is doing the same thing. Either that, or it's drawing too much power from the line and causing a "brown-out" of your equipment (causing it to reboot or lose partial power).

You can check for a power cycle on the router usually by checking the "router uptime" as well as "connection uptime". They're usually listed somewhere in the router. The "connection uptime" tells you how long the "current" connection has been established. The "router uptime" tells you how long it's been since the router was rebooted.

Maybe those could provide more indication into what's going on with the router (especially when the fridge kicks on).
Just an aside, it might be faulty phone line filters causing issues and not the router.
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 Pro x64 | AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard | 16GB 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti Gamer | Corsair AX 760watt PSU | Samsung 860 Pro 512GB SSD & WD Black FZEX HDD
Well, the new router seems to be working flawlessly. With the old one i definitely would have had the fridge hiccup by now.

There's still a bit of a gap between your modem and the ISP gateway:

| home.Home - 0 | 8371 | 8371 | 0 | 0 | 30 | 0 |
| d154-5-184-1.bchsia.telus.net - 0 | 8368 | 8368 | 23 | 25 | 848 | 25 |

But I don't know that has anything to do with your end. The WinMTR report looks much better than before.

Notice that your "max" on the first hop is 30ms (acceptable) then it jumps to 848ms (meh).

The average still appears to be around 25ms which is good... that means that the 800ms times were only maybe one or two packets, and it's not "constant".. but just something to watch out for.

Either way, the results look much better and it's not uncommon to get a latent ping once in 8000 packets.
